Montego Bay Vacations

Montego Bay is Jamaica's second largest city but its most popular destination for international flights, and the visitors aboard them. The name Montego derives from the Spanish manteca, or lard, due to the settlers' practice of exporting "hog butter" from the native pigs. The city is divided into the hip tourist district along Gloucester Avenue and ... Read more
"downtown," where most visitors never make it. The Bay itself is a jewel, characterized by protected coral reef and miles of beautiful beaches.

Like many of the islands in the Caribbean, Jamaica is blessed with gorgeous weather year-round. Temperatures hardly ever rise above or below perfect beach weather, staying between the mid-70s and upper-80s ... Read more
(23-31). The island sees the most visitors in the winter from mid-December through mid-April, when northerners flee bad winter weather back home. Visiting during this time of the year means more crowds and higher prices, so be sure to book your hotel far in advance, especially around Christmas. For lower prices, head here in April and May before the summer rains hit. You’ll save the biggest bucks over the summer, but it comes with a different price: heavy rainfall and the potential for a hurricane.

Visited several times and stayed at several all inclusive resorts. Had a great time at each. Each offered a different service levels, great food, entertainment and activities. I wish I could get paid to visit all inclusives and submit personal experience testimonies

I would like to say I enjoyed my experience in Montego Bay, and I did, but when you compare it against similar destinations, it is not a place that sits high on my list to return to.

The actual resort I stayed at was more than adequate to escape and relax. It was all-inclusive, had daily activities and performances, beautiful beaches, etc.

The unfortunate thing about Montego Bay is -- from the minute you exit your plane, you'll spend every minute (outside of your resort) being overcharged, hustled, scammed, and possibly even put in dangerous situations.

I've traveled to many destinations where bargaining, prices for westerners, safety, etc, are part of the experience, but nothing wrapped up in a package that spanned the entire length of the trip.

I would not recommend this as a destination for inexperienced travelers unless you don't mind paying ridiculous taxi fees from the airport and staying within the confines of your resort.

A beautiful Jamaican Bay, complete with restaurants, casinos, shopping, and local culture. Not to be missed on a trip to the island.

Jamaica's second city. Come for the requisite sun, sea and sand and leave with sooooo much more. The food, the music, entertainment and ohhhhh the nightlife.

Largest city on the island of Jamaica.
If you stay in Montego Bay you would only be about 10 minutes from the airport so it is really convenient.
The beaches are good and the nightlife is even better!
The city has what is called "The Hip Strip" which is all bars and nightclubs that cater to the tourists.
It is safe and so much fun!!

We stopped in Montego Bay on a cruise. Originally, we were supposed to go to Ocho Rios, which everyone was really excited about, but there were apparently too many ships in port there, so we were taken to Montego Bay instead. It was nice, but when we were there, literally everything smelled like weed.

We stayed at Sandals in Montego Bay. We left the resort often and visited MB and some other local venues. The people were great. Yes, there was some soliciting of most anything imaginable, but once we said no, they left us alone. I would go back in a heartbeat!
