The historic old Montreal area is lovely. The cobblestone streets and European architecture will take you right back. The picturesque walks along the St Lawrence River are so peaceful.

Cool area. The architecture and streets feels very European. We went on a sunny day when there was a lot on. Kind of touristy, so wouldn’t hang around for too long, but nice to see and to grab a drink outside.

Need to return because you can't see and do it all at once in Old Montreal! Easy to get there VIA the underground metro.

This is one of the few places I've been where I'd say even though it's clearly a tourist area, it serves it's purpose well and is quite enjoyable. The history in the area is astounding, it's beautiful (if a little crowded), and the food options are good, not great. Come for the history and ambiance!

Best area to walk around, eat at unbelievable restaurants and discover why they call Montreal a European city.

It is walking distance from my apartment and it is very unique to discover. A lot a good restaurants, you can easily rent bikes in summer and go on Lachine canal for few kilometers or even more.
From Old Montreal you can also access by bike to Ile Notre Dame: you will have a great view on Montreal

Old Montreal is one of the oldest urban areas in North America dating back to 1640's. It is now the major tourist attraction for its architecture and cobbled stone streets.

The old section of Montreal is beautiful - it's like wandering into an old European capital, with narrow streets and beautiful architecture. It's a bit touristic, and not very large, but more than makes up for it in charm. Plan to grab a beer at a street-side cafe and do some people watching...

Cobblestone streets in some areas give Old Montreal character to match its often stunning architecture.

Walk the old cobbled streets where you discover unique boutiques and restaurants. Stop and enjoy a walk in Old Port where there are restaurants, cafés, the science museum and areas to just sit and enjoy the view and activities in the Old Port. Montreal is a city of festivals and there's always an event going on in Old Montreal. The architecture of the building remind you of Paris.

Old Montreal has beautiful architecture and is a great place to walk around when the weather is nice. There are many restaurants, shops and art galleries to explore. However, the boutiques tend to close a little early, so head out at a good time if you're interested in clothes.

Such a fun place to be in the summer in Montreal. Lots of people and a great vibe. Old Montreal always has magic shows and street performers too. Horse and buggy rides, great restaurants, and you can walk along the water after you've seen all the little shops.

Old Montreal (French: Vieux-Montréal) is the oldest area in the city of Montreal with few remains dating back to New France. Its cobblestone streets and small, friendly shops will charm you. Everything gives off an amazing feeling of nostalgia. Explore many historic sites, restaurants and art galleries. Enjoy the many buskers in the area, ready to entertain you!

TIP:

Take public transportation to and from Old-Montreal. It's easy and very accesible. Parking is limited and expensive.

Walking area with old city flavor. Shopping and restaurants everywhere. Select a couple of stores or art galleries along your interests and explore leisurely. I enjoyed Inuit art in a gallery, excellent pieces rivaling museum's collection.
