Mountain View is one of the more popular cities located in California's Silicon Valley, with many notable tech companies either headquartered in the city or with a large presence near it. Visitors to the city will find it a very pedestrian-friendly place. Most of the city's attractions are located downtown around Castro Street. Mountain View's ... Read more

Rains are fairly common during the winter, but almost unheard of from May through October, so if you are planning on taking advantage of the area’s many outdoor activities (rather than haunting the halls of tech offices), this is the best time to visit.

Mountain View is a great place to live in the Bay Area. It's centrally located and has Cal Train, light rail, and freeway access to San Francisco and the Peninsula (101), the East Bay (237), and San Jose (85, 101). Downtown has great restaurants, a weekly farmer's market, and nightlife. Shoreline has concerts, golf, a multi-use trail, and boating on a lake to enjoy. While not quite as upscale as the Peninsula or Los Gatos, Mountain View is an up and coming area that is a nice compromise between the south bay / east bay, and the peninsula.

Mountain View is only interesting if you have business there. You wouldn't explore this city unless you were already bored with the other major attractions in the area.

Out of all of the South bay Cities, I think Mountain View has to be on the top of the list. It's bigger than Menlo Park but not as crowded and Frantic as Palo Alto. The layout of the city is much better also.
