Wombat's is one of the few city hostels that cater to comfort, convenience and price-conscious travellers. Only 10 minutes walk from the Hauptbahnhof.
If you want to stay during Oktoberfest you have to make a reservation in advance. The Wombats has 300 beds, but gets booked out fast, especially if you do not want to stay in a dorm, but get one of the ten double occupancy rooms. The Hostel does not take email or phone reservations during Oktoberfest. You have to go to their website and make a reservation online, starting June 1st. And you better make your reservation on that very day. Once you have your reservation, you can relax. The Wombats is located close to Oktoberfest and central station – and offers everything you might need in-house. 24/7 hour reception, WiFi, lockers, luggage rooms, a nice bar, pool table and a very cool winter garden to relax. They also organize their own tours.
If you want to get to know people, the Wombat is the place to go. The winter garden, or Artrium-garden, is the heart of the Hostel and quite comfy with its beach chairs, hammocks and super-sized pillow lounges. For soccer games or other big events they set up a jumbo screen. There are concerts and karaoke-nights in the bar. And the Wombats-organized tours are also worth a try. Their guides are fun and dedicated – and even the hotel staff goes on tour with them once in a while. Ask for Ozzie when booking one of the Munich walking tours. The rooms are simple, but clean, not necessarily a place where you want to hang out, but since there are plenty of other options at the Wombats, this is really okay.
Super clean, Everybody was incredibly helpful. Met lots of awesome people. Super close to the main train station-5 min walk.
