Natal was first settled in the sixteenth century, and unlike many of the other cities in this general area, it did not benefit directly from the booming sugar cane industry. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise, at least for modern Natal, since the lack of an excessive income didn't cause the crowds to swell the city too quickly, instead, ... Read more
Natal was allowed to grow under the support of it's own more easily sustainable efforts into a comfortably populated city of around 800,000. Today, this coastal paradise is a popular place for tourists hoping to enjoy the water, since there are definitely plenty of great beaches to be found here. There is also a noticeable US Military presence, since a base was constructed in Natal during WWII thanks to it's location as the eastern most point of land in the Pacific. Besides enjoying the sun by the beach, there are other sandy tourist attractions, including various dunes that are popular among ATV users. The Forte dos Reis Magos, is a star-shaped fort that is the city's most proud example of history, but it is just one of many great reasons why this location is becoming one of Brazil's more popular tourist havens.

Pittsford (town), New York

If you like beaches then this is the place for you. They even have dunes close to the city with rides in dune buggies. Warm & humid weather with laid back Brazilians.

Belo Horizonte, Brazil

A beautiful city in Rio Grande do Norte with a mix of beach and historic centre destination. Praia da Ponta Negra is the most famous beach with greats hotels, resorts and restaurats. Another plus of Natal is the proximity with amazing beaches such as "Genipabú" and "Praia da Pipa". It is one of the europeans' favorite destinations in Brazil and a city where´s summer 340 days of the year. It will also be one of the host cities of Fifa´s World Cup 2014.
