I never stayed here but I had a friend who worked in the bar and I'd take friends here for the carousel bar.

This is a fantastic hotel located just along the fringe of the French Quarter (right where you want to be). They have valet since parking is very difficult here, and that is a good thing. The rooms are quaint and well appointed. The hotel lobby is lovely, and they have a really interesting carousel bar.

The Hotel Monteleone is one of the last family-owned and operated hotels in New Orleans. Since being constructed 1886, five generations of Monteleones have stewarded, expanded, and renovated the hotel to retain its legacy of being one of the best luxury hotels in the French Quarter, which seems to have also attracted a lot of ghostly activity as well as live patrons. Many paranormal shows and investigators have knocked on the hotel’s doors to inquire about the spirit of a young boy who likes to play hide-and-seek with another young spirit, the ghastly maker of the grandfather clock performing maintenance in the lobby, the deceased jazz singers partying the night away in lobby, and a lost child who asks guests to hold their hands and then quickly disappears after looking up into their eyes, all of which have been seen here. And the management honors these supernatural guests of honor by hosting an annual ball to respect and embrace their memory.

The Hotel Monteleone is just plain gorgeous. It almost looks too fancy to have a pool, but there's one on the roof, and some of the Tales of the Cocktail events took place around it. The hotel hosts many conferences, including the Tennessee Williams New Orleans Literary Festival. Rightly so: the iconic Monteleone is an official literary landmark. Truman Capote claims to have been born here, and Hemingway and Eudora Welty (among others) have set stories in the hotel.

Appropriate for any season, the Hotel Monteleone is right in the middle of the French Quarter action, but is, in itself, a class act.

Perfect spot to enjoy the French Quarter, New Orleans. Step right outside the front door and enter "Les Bonne Temps"! Great staff, luxurious rooms; almost makes one feel like staying in bed all day! Beautiful decor, and small enough to make you feel like a King or Queen.

Great hotel loved the views from our corner room looking towards the Mississippi River and the pool on the roof was an added touch!! The staff was supper friendly and gave me the best ideas of where to go and do while I was in New Orleans! The Carousel Bar & Lounge is amazing, I still can't get over the fact that it moves!! Spa Aria is amazing!

Gorgeously appointed and right in the heart of the French Quarter just a few short stumbling blocks from the action on Bourbon. The catered dinner meeting food was unique and well prepared - my favorite was the Deconstructed Oysters Rockefeller served in a martini glass (I must recreate this sometime at home!)

From the moment you see the grand façade of the Hotel Monteleone, you can sense greater things to come. The glittering Art Deco lobby takes your breath away, but the feel isn’t intimidating. After all, the lobby also boasts the city’s only Carousel Bar that rotates — and not because your overindulgence has caused the spins! But aside from that novelty, this is a solid hotel. The Hotel Monteleone’s staff was friendly — across the board. The room was spacious and beautiful, and the bathroom sparkling clean. If you want to work off some of the amazingly rich food New Orleans offers (their restaurant is under renovation — so, poor you! — you’ll have to venture out into New Orleans to do so), the rooftop pool and shiny fitness center are gorgeous. This is unpretentious luxe in the heart of the French Quarter.

One of the best values in the French Quarter, Hotel Monteleone couples Parisian luxury with New Orleans scintillating nightlife. Monteleone has the rare faculty of making economy travelers feel rich. The rooms are plush, with comfortable beds and floor to ceiling windows. The hotel is known for its carousel bar and rooftop pool. The combination of elegance and festivity brings in a varied crowd of guests who share the desire to relax and have a good time. The staff is accomodating. My wife, who stayed here on the Eve of Katrina, recounts how the staff arranged free cancellation and transportation for those looking to escape the infamous hurricane.
