the afternoon but fully lit in the morning. The deep red, purply furniture, low lights, a huge ottoman that made me think of people lying around on it, a long breakfast table in front of the elevators that looks out of place, and to top it off, a big print of John Lennon next to a very dark and atmospheric bar. Fortunately, the rooms aren't anything like all that. They're relatively large, with nice big beds, and the shower curtain is heavy terrycloth, like a giant towel.

The International House is not just a hotel, it’s a New Orleans-themed experience with an almost religious feel. At night, it is dimly lit by an array of candles and the bar truly beckons with its hanging string lights, antiques and luxurious plush seating. Resident “spirit Handler” Alan Walter take cocktails seriously, creating syrups and tinctures from local ingredients and serving them in a glass from his private collection! Every inch of this place is decorated with wrought-iron, woods, velvets, antiques and modern accents. It was clearly a labor of love of the designer. The hotel is in the original “International House” building, which predated the World Trade Center phenomenon, and spawned the trend. The rooms vary from cool to truly epic: some penthouses feature wrap-around terraces and baby grand pianos. In short: even if you don’t end up staying here, make sure to at least drop in for a drink just to see it!

Anyone with a fine eye for a style is sure to love the feel of this hotel. Sexy, cool, and sophisticated are some of the first adjectives that come to mind. The candlelit lobby sets the tone for the entire hotel, romantic yet relaxed; nothing is over the top. The bar downstairs is a wonderful place to grab a nice craft cocktail before heading out for the evening, or to spend most of the night. And the rooms are beautiful. They have a very modern, trendy and a clean style throughout. The hotel is situated in the CBD just a couple blocks from the French Quarter, so you’re within walking distance from most spots that are sure to be on your list. This is your boutique hotel at its finest.

Great comfy beds! They offer free wi-fi a 24/7 gym (on the 3rd floor) and nice spacious beds. You can't go wrong! Located only 2 blocks from the French Quarter you are close without being in the party scene. There is a popular bar in the hotel with both locals and tourists which is a great place for a happy hour drink or a late night cap. Parking is $35 per day if you have a car...but you can walk almost everywhere you want from here.
