Walk or bike the 3 mile trail. Enjoy the giant oaks. Feed the ducks or just sit in the shade.

Take a ride down Magazine to the park. Walk, rung, bring the kids...Its a big park with a lot of space to enjoy the outdoors. Gold course and Zoo mixed in as well. Enjoy some peace and quiet away from the Quarter.

If you're looking for something more intimate than City Park, look no further. It's a great place to spend the afternoon playing frisbee. During crawfish season you might even see some local crawfish boils taking place! The park is just across the street from Audubon Zoo, so it would be best to visit the two in the same day. Make sure to check the weather forecast before heading out, as Louisiana is known for it's high-humidity heat and it's surprise downpours - you don't want to be caught outside during one of these!

This is my daily meditation walk spot, and I couldn't be happier, this park is one of the best and most beautiful I've ever seen. There is a 1.8 mile jogging trail surrounding the park, with bike lanes for as well, for a peaceful stroll or ride through the park. It also includes a golf course, a pool and a zoo in the back. A perfect place for a picnic, a party or to enjoy the day with a good book. The best part of the park is the lake called Bird Island, which has literally thousands of birds of different species including a variety of egrets, ducks and swans; it’s fun just to sit and watch them or listen to the bird therapy. Tons of beautiful Oaks with Spanish moss and lots of picnic benches and covered spots for parties. Beware before you sit down for red ants and other bugs!

There is not a lot of wild natural space in New Orleans to go hike around in. But I will say that the parks in town are pretty spectacular. One of them is Audubon Park. The park is huge, and every inch is beautiful in its own way. You can have a picnic by the lake, pack some beers and take it to the “Fly” by the river, or trek over to the “Tree of Life” and be a monkey for a little while. This special tree is one of the many large oak trees in the park, but with its long, spider-like branches, it stands out as the perfect spot to ignite our animal instincts and swing around.

One of the most beautiful parks in the world. A short streetcar ride ways. Be sure to take in Audubon Zoo located right behind the park.

There’s perhaps no other space in New Orleans as meditative as The Labyrinth; it’s located on East Drive near Audubon Stables. With a circular, paved walkway and well-tended walking trail, this area of Audubon Park offers a calming place to escape the pressures of day-to-day life, engendering quiet walking meditations and chances for reflection along its spiral path. Just get lost in the peace of the park as you follow the path’s twists and turns until you reach the center.

This is a lovely park you can reach by taking the trolley from the French Quarter area. When we were there we some some sort of GIGANTIC birds nesting in the trees. I am not a bird watcher, but I think those are rather unique.

Boasting “3 centuries of history and 6 blocks of shopping,” the French Market has a lot going on, pretty much all the time. Situated right off the Riverfront street car line, it’s a combined Farmer’s Market and Flea Market filled out with local artists and craftsmen selling their wares, all mixed in together and under one roof. And every Saturday in August and September, the organizers invite brass bands to come play for the crowd;s enjoyment. Just remember that browsing is always free, but odds are good that you’ll find something you want to take home with you.

Live Oaks, wetlands, a golf course, and more shirtless runners than you can count are the attraction here. This sprawling park is located just across scenic St. Charles Avenue from Loyola and Tulane Universities, and the grounds are constantly littered with student bodies. A running/biking/skating loop here will help you get your fitness on, and the enormous, dog-sized Louisiana rodents called nutria that live on the shores of the water here will put an extra pep in your step.

Absolutely beautiful place to enjoy your day. My friends and I would often go to Whole Foods nearby and have a picnic at the park. So peaceful (:

A large, beautiful park with enormous oak trees covered in Spanish moss. Walk a few blocks to the St Charles Avenue streetcar (fare $1.25), ride about a mile west & you are there!

Grab a po'boy and head to the "Fly," the breezy uptown stretch of Audubon Park along the river, where locals go to unwind and find a few hours' respite from the intense heat.
