States general in 1815, after his victory in the Battle of New Orleans. Bars and restaurants border the park, and the legendary Cafe Du Monde is just across the street. Carriages stop near its entrance, marked by four striking light pillars. Three 18th-century historic buildings sit at the square’s north side, which served as the city’s center during colonial times.

A nice area to go to outside of just Bourbon street. Jackson Square has a lot of historical value with beautiful sites to see. Even if you just want a place to go to for a photo op, COME HERE. It's especially beautiful during a sunset!

Jackson Square holds a special place in my heart. My husband proposed to me there and it was everything I had dreamed and more! The park is beautiful and a lovely place to walk or eat lunch on a bench if it’s not too hot. Go grab a muffuletta or poboy, park yourself on a bench, and enjoy people watching. You’ll have 100 year old massive oak trees to keep you company!

A historical park to visit when in New Orleans. This is the place where the Louisiana Purchase was completed in 1803. Come stroll, take in the views of the monument or church, or sit and relax in the grass or on a bench.

The heart of the French Quarter, site of the famous St. Louis Cathedral. A "must" for first time visitors to New Orleans.

nice place good art , I bought an amazing picture from Willy 2017 in crazy price , everything around is just cool ,only thing is many nasty homeless people ,the reason I say that is , 5 different times they approach to my 8 years old son and try to force him towards giving them money and use very bad language.
Be careful.

Jackson square is a little over-hyped. Mediocre artists sell their works, there are a plethora of buskers and living statues and the overcrowded Cafe Du Monde across the street. See it, I guess?

The heart of the French Quarter, in my opinion. So much going on from musicians to street performers to vendors.

If the craziness of the French Quarter is too much for you, this beautiful park is a relaxing escape.

Just on the outskirts of the French Quarter this lovely area and church was host to a late afternoon wedding when we visited. This is probably the nicest, cleanest spot around this area the bars and restaurants have not invaded.
