A popular colonial city to visit in Mexico, I loved this region and the city was very nice to visit.

I fell immediately, head-over-heels in love with Oaxaca. With so many things to love it is hard to pinpoint just a few. One of the most unique things about this region though, is the cuisine. Do not be shy to eat here. Eat whatever, whenever, wherever. Especially at the main market in the magical corridor of grilled meats (follow your nose). The zocalo and Monte Alban are of course must-sees. I would highly recommend one of those walks about where you deliberately try and get yourself lost, you will find something lovely and exciting without fail.

Local from Oaxaca De Juarez, Mexico

With vibrant Colonial architecture; a cute, walkable downtown; beautiful artistic traditions including alebrijes (intricately painted wood crafts) and pottery (black, green and natural); and amazing culinary specialties -- including many different types of molés; tlayudas (huge, grilled quesadillas); wonderful cheeses; squash blossoms year round; nieves (sorbets) in unique flavors like cheese, hierba santa and burned milk; and, of course, mezcal -- this city quickly won my heart. In fact, after our first visit last year, my husband and I resolved to come back and live here for a year, which we're doing now.

Fascinating culture. Good food. And the best haircut I've ever had in my life. What's not to love about Oaxaca? A thoroughly Mexican city with an international flavor (but not as crowded with foreigners as, say, San Cristobal de Las Casas), Oaxaca has all the cobblestone streets and happening zocalos you could possibly want.

Try "tlayuda", is a handmade dish part of traditional Mexican cuisine, a popular "antojito" originating from the state of Oaxaca.

Oaxaca has it all. Rich in history with two major ruin sites within a short drive from the city center (Monte Alban and Mitla), a plethora of dining choices and world class art museums. The residents of Oaxaca are among the friendliest and warm you will find anywhere in the world. The town is small and is easily walkable. Spend some time meandering down any street and you will discover a city rich in tradition. Sit in the main square sipping on a cold Modelo Especial. Down a few of these and maybe you will get enough nerve to try a tasting the chapulines. Or if crickets for lunch aren't so much your thing, then just give one of the seven different kinds of moles a sample.

Toluca, Mexico

Excellent !!!
