I love the setting of this restaurant - it's really big and open with outdoor seating, dark wood, and hidden nooks to sit in. They had quite a few vegetarian dishes as well as a ton of delicious desserts. They made really nice cocktails as well. I went for the shrimp in cocoa because I was so intrigued - it was seriously delicious!

Local from Oaxaca de Juarez, Mexico

This restaurant is one of the best in Oaxaca, and for good reason! The food is farm to table, and perfectly prepared--full of flavor. The outdoor atmosphere is stunning, including a moss covered wall, and small intimate alcove. The bar is beautiful. Should you do a starter, an entree, and a couple of drinks, you can spend about $20-25 per person. For fine dining, you can't beat that!

Although we only gave this restaurant, located in Oaxaca's historic center, four stars, we loved our meal there. It loses a star solely because of its high prices, and perhaps because a steak was slightly undercooked. For the most part, though, our meal was wonderful. The owners also have two other restaurants in Mexico and their own mezcal distillery.

The menu features Oaxacan specialties, including relleno, tlayudas and arrachera. Our favorite dishes included a relleno made from hierba santa -- a local herb -- and Oaxacan cheese, and a duck confit with hibiscus mole. Dessert, a goat-cheese flan, also was fabulous.

As one might imagine, Los Danzantes' cocktail menu is dominated by mezcal drinks. The restaurant also has a wide selection of mezcals. Our server helped us choose one by bringing three to taste.

Our meal cost a little less than $100, so this is a splurge type of place for most people. A similar meal in the United States would cost at least that much, however, so everything is relative.

It is a space adapted as a restaurant and mezcalería, but it also has a very nice adobe building where you can relax for a moment. I like to go to their gardens while I read a book and I drink a good mezcal; recommended place in the center.

First class food and mezcal! This is one of my favorite restaurants in Mexico City, although in fact its origin had it here in Oaxaca, so I did not waste time and visited the Isthmian headquarters. I was not disappointed with its menu inspired by traditional dishes but with a twist, many of them accompanied by grasshoppers or jerky. The best ones are: the Tlayuda with shrimp and the Dobladitas with cream, wild mushrooms and chorizo. Accompany them with a mezcal of breast the Danzantes. A party of flavor for your palate!

In this restaurant you will have a special experience, because it is Oaxacan author. You will receive an impeccable service and it is an excellent option to celebrate a special occasion, both day and night. The cost per person is high, but if your intention is to have a first class experience, it is the ideal place.
