High end stores are on the street side with local and some general mall chains on the alley walk. So close to Dontonburi if you get hungry jump over there where it is nothing but food.

Shinsaibashi is a covered shopping street in Chūō-ku ward of Osaka, the city's main shopping area. My favorite place to walk around.

If ever there was a hip, cool shopping area in Osaka, it's Shinsaibashi. This area sees constant activity any time of the day or night. It's an electric district to be in if you're shopping in ernest or if you're just in it for the outstanding people watching opportunities that it presents.

Shinsaibashi is the main shopping district in the heart of Osaka. Located right near the Namba train station, it is easily accessible from anywhere. These outdoor malls are all covered overhead and inside you'll find a maze of shops and restaurants. It's amazing how much you can pack into a small space as you'll find very local tiny shops mixed in with big boutiques and luxury brands. Anything you can imagine you'll find for sale here!

This is one of those gigantic, never ending shopping areas (and the largest in Osaka). The covered shopping arcade goes on and on, with something for everyone. Eateries abound! Even if you don't plan to buy anything, this is a great opportunity to interact with the friendly locals. There is a large Daimaru department in the area, too. Be sure to visit their food department. Shinsaibashi is easily accessible from Namba Station.

Shinsaibashi is the shopping district of Osaka, Japan's second most populous city. It has been the shopping district of Osaka for centuries, but it is modern in its appearance, which is recognizable by it's arched, long skylight roof covering a long portion of it. You have little shops and eateries on the strip and on side streets parallel and perpendicular to this center.

You can find Mom and Pop stores and restaurants, or high end boutiques with international name brands. You can get leaflets from teens in along the way, or walk into several pachinko parlors dotting the long strip.

Nearby there are a lot of hotels also available.

Shinsaibashi is fed by the chikatetsu, or subway, using the Mido-Suji line from many main parts of the city.

Venturing pass the main shopping corridor of Shinsaibashi, we’d reached Dotonborigawa 道頓堀川, whose banks are laden with restaurants and eateries of all sorts

Slowly elbow your way through the crowd if necessary, but come here. Keep your camera ready - so much fun.
