A cute little hostel that really proved how expensive Norway is as a whole.
A hostel that would cost as little as 12 Euro a night in other areas of Europe cost 40 euros and didn't include bedding. Yep I know right, and extra 5 euros for something to keep you warm.
Other than that Anker was a great place to stay for a few nights. It has a great atmosphere with a lot of other young travellers to be found.
One of the best aspects was the included breakfast which saved a few dollars here and there.
I also felt really safe here as a female back packer.
A basic hostel, nothing wrong, nothing great. For expensive Oslo, the location and the price make it a good option. It was clean, and my dorm had a small kitchen and fridge which sounded nicer than it needed up being as whatever you are would leave to room smelling of it. The place is cheap but charges for basic things like sheets and bedding. The staff were cordial, but not overly welcoming as found in other backpacker stays. There seemed to be a mix of backpackers, as well as business and families. Run more like a budget hotel than a hostel.
The Anker Hostel is the usual, budget accommodation option in Europe. It is nicely kept, clean and has fairly spacious rooms with bunk beds. The hotel turns into a student dormitory during the winter season and for that reason all rooms have the convenience of a private kitchenette, which is in my opinion a nice plus in a hostel. When it comes to hostels however, the Anker has one minus in my opinion, there is no really social area to meet and mingle with other guests. On the plus side however, it is very well located between Oslo's main hipster neighborhood and the city center.
Just a few minutes walk from the center of Oslo, this hotel guarantees you relaxation and cleanliness, with beautiful, colorful rooms and a lobby bar that also has a small garden. Breakfast is plentiful and the staff is always friendly and helpful.
