his prints, sketches, paintings and articles as well as biographical information and forum discussions. From the “Frieze of Life” collection containing distinctive pictures, such as “Scream” and “Madonna” and over 20,000 additional pieces, you can learn about Norway’s culture and the brilliantly distressed mind of the artist. The exhibition includes personal objects, books and works that Munch bequeathed to the city prior to his death in 1940.

Sadly my understanding of Edvard Munch's work is limited to the Scream (which you won't find here), so we welcomed the opportunity to explore more of his work. Needless to say, we couldn't have picked a better place even if the museum is in the process of relocating.

Wonderful museum with Munch's greatest pieces. The physical space of the museum is a bit shabby (which was surprising), but his works are the attraction. I imagine once the new location opens, that point will be moot. Also, when I went (June 2017), The Scream was not on display.

Many people head to Munch Museum to see the famous Scream but the National Gallery houses the painting. Edvard Munch has a unique position among Nordic painters and is considered a pioneer in expressionism. The Munch Museum’s collection consists of paintings, graphical prints, and drawings.

The Munch Museum is home to more than half of Edvard Munch's paintings and most of his print motifs. It is currently displaying Munch's work alongside different artists - I saw a dual exhibition based on a collaboration between two of the world's leading monographic museums; the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and the Munch Museum.

The Edvard Munch museum is certainly a stop worth making the short trek to. It's only a few minutes away from the t-bane station and has signs directing you right to the door. The security is high here, for obvious reasons, so I'd recommend leaving the giant purse behind. I thoroughly enjoyed the manner in which Munch's work was organized as it was thoughtful and told a real story.

I don’t like Munch’s paintings, and I strongly resisted going to this museum. But my husband convinced me that this is a unique opportunity to see a variety of Munch’s works and “give him another chance”, so we went there. It was fairly easy to get there using metro (and some help from locals to figure out which metro line to take). It’s a nice and well organized museum. I am glad I went there. My opinion about Edward Munch’s paintings didn’t change much, but I was surprised to discover that during his not so schizophrenic periods he managed to create some interesting paintings. A visit to this museum gives you a good opportunity to observe Munch’s work and form a better opinion about this crazy but talented Norwegian painter.

The Munch Museum has one of the four renditions of the famous Scream picture, two of which are paintings. One of the paintings is here. It used to be easier to steal this painting, but I think they clamped down on the security after one was stolen from the National Museum and one was stolen from the Munch Museum.

Don't forget to look for Munch's famous "Screm" painting, one of the most expensive in the world.

This Museum especially houses the works of Edvard Munch; the artists has significantly contributed to the history of art, and is mostly known as the father of expressionistic art. Masterpieces such as the ‘Scream and the Madonna’ are probably the most renowned of Munch’s paintings onsite, along with over 20,000 pieces of drawings, paintings, prints, sculptures and personal objects such as letters and books.
