A stunning structure which visitors are encouraged to enter and explore even if not seeing a show. You can actually walk on the roof!

This is beautiful! Everyone who's visiting Oslo should go to the roof and look out over Oslo. It's magnificent!

Home to the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, more commonly known as the Oslo Opera House, is one of the most noticeable landmarks of the city. The building is located at the head of the Oslofjord. Much of the building is covered with white granite and white Italian marble.

Beautiful and very modern design, I didn't think it was an opera house when I first saw it.

The building is incredible and so is walking on it. Watching the summer "sunset" or just the water, sitting on the roof is truly an experience and downtown Oslo is just a few blocks away.

What a beautiful building! You can't miss Oslo's waterfront Opera House, which personally I think is more striking now then Sydney's iconic version which seems a little tired. The angled exterior surfaces of the building are covered with Italian marble and white granite and make it appear to rise from the water. There's even a designated space for skate boarders - how Scandinavian. Inside is equally stunning so be sure to explore there too.

So much fun, and definitely a mini adventure, venturing up on the roof in winter! The architecture inside and out is beautiful.

Saw a show here and it was amazing! The building is an attraction unto itself. Definitely one of the top spots to visit in the city.

The Oslo Opera House--also home to the ballet--is one of Oslo's most iconic buildings. It sits on the water in the center of the city. But the best part: you can walk on top of it. That's right, the Oslo Opera House is the only opera house in the world that you can walk on top of. Climb the Italian marble, check out the gorgeous views, and, if you're lucky, see a concert on the rooftop. Stunning!

Oslo's Opera House is truly a sight to see... and walk on! The roof of the building slopes down to the water allowing visitors an opportunity to walk up it like a snowy slope!

The architecture is what this place is so special. You can walk up the building on the sides and have a great view to the city and the water.

We used the glass front for some funny pictures.

Whoever designed the Oslo opera and ballet center did a phenomenal job. While I didn't even go inside, I thoroughly enjoyed wandering around, up and down the building. You'll get a great view up top of the city.

Probably my favorite landmarks in Oslo! Very beautiful and unique opera house where there are weekly ballets and operas that you can go see. The architecture of the building is very unique as well. You can climb all the way up to the roof and get a great view of the city and water. Make a stop here - it's a must!

The Norwegian Opera House, Operaen was built in 2008. It is an imposing structure: stylish and confident. The 500 million Euro budget outraged Oslo’s citizens and they demanded that it be used for ballet and a variety of musical genres in addition to opera. But you can’t appreciate its brilliance until you walk all over it. The slanted roof allows visitors the opportunity to walk all the way up to the top level and look out across the city and harbor. Get a peek inside, too, if you can't afford tickets.

The Opera House in Oslo as a magnificent piece of architecture. The building looks gorgeous from the outside and it's a event in itself to climb on top of it. The inside is just as nice, no costs were spared to make this one of the finest Opera Houses in the world. Given time, I think it could have just as big an impact as the one in Sydney does.

The Opera House in Oslo is probably is probably its most popular attraction. Not only is the architecture a masterpiece, the location is good too. From the top you can see down into the entrance hall through the windows, as well as boats passing by in the distance when you look over the edges. Seagulls often rest on the railings at the top patio when tourists take photos of the miniature cars and people down below. But mostly the cameras tend to aim at the seagulls.

Stunning architecture and what a treat to be able to literally walk all over the building. Amazing views! Watch out for the wind though and climbing up the structure could be difficult for kids.
