Get up close and personal with the animals. Go early in the morning to beat the heat and see the animal feeding time.

A beautiful park to visit on a date, with family, or alone. The animals all looked very well taken care of. You can even feed a giraffe for $6

We love this place, but you have to get there early(opens at 9am) because the animals all sleep in the afternoon because of the heat. Go ahead and pay extra for the tram and do that first then you can leisure around the gardens later.

The Living Desert’s mission is desert conservation through preservation, education and appreciation.

The objectives of The Living Desert are:

to preserve a portion of the Colorado Desert in its natural state;
to foster, through interpretive exhibits, programs and publication, an awareness of, and an appreciation for, the variety of plants and animals in worldwide ecosystems;
to build up under controlled conditions, populations of various species of desert animals and plants threatened with extinction in the wild state;
and to foster through cooperative research and educational programs, biological studies contributing to the protection of desert species in a wild state.

Great place for the entire family. You can see different kinds of animals like giraffes, zebras, etc. This is a fun place to go during the holiday season because of the light displays.

More than just a zoo. See Wolves, Cheetahs, Mountain Lions, Big Horn Sheep, Giraffe and a whole lot more. One of my favorite places to go every year. Great for families and also great for those that want to hike. Pro Tip: hikers can see all the wonderful animals at the zoo AND do an awesome hike. All levels welcome: Inner, Medium and Adventurous Loops (trails) await. I highly recommend the latter!

A great day excursion for the whole family! See desert creatures in an environment very close to their own. Learn about the indigenous native people that lived in the Coachella Valley before it was populated and formed as we know it today. A beautiful stroll and look into our beautiful desert! I particularly love the mountain lions and the giraffs!
