I was thoroughly impressed with this museum. When we went there was an Andy Warhol exhibit that was well curated and phenomenal. The other side of the museum had great modern and contemporary art as well.

Super fun outing for the whole family! Do lunch at Lulu's, Las Casuelas, Spencer's, The Purple Palm or The Farm, then soak in some amazing art (classical masters to contemporary pop culture). One of my favorite days in Palm Springs!

This is the best air museum I have ever been to. There are so many planes, many from world war II and you can go inside some of them. You can also opt for a ride in an open cockpit dog-fighter like the Red Baron.

Located just off the main downtown drag, the Palm Springs Art Museum has an impressive collection for its size. It’s not so surprising when you consider that the art has been donated or loaned by affluent residents of Palm Springs from over the years. When it was founded in 1938, the Palm Springs Art Museum specialized in Native American art and artifacts, which are still a key component of the collection. The works have expanded to an eclectic array of modern and contemporary art, from Picasso to Dale Chihuly’s glass sculpture. An appealing open atrium layout provides views of the different works of art together. Thursday evenings is a fun time to visit; entrance is free, and afterwards you can wander through the Palm Springs VillageFest, a lively weekly street festival with art, food, and entertainment.

I shouldn't have been so surprised at how great this museum in the desert is, since Palm Springs is an artsy city after all. If you like contemporary art and are staying in Palm Springs for the weekend, you should make time to visit. I enjoyed the interesting pieces and spent a lot of time here.

One of the most impressive permanent collections of any contemporary art museum in the country as well as a movie theater that features independent movies.

Super fun and unique modern art museum in the heart of Palm Springs. This museum features some of the works of Warhol and Picasso but the more notable and interesting pieces of art are from the lesser known artists. Definitely worth checking out while in town - be sure to look our for the elderly couple on the third floor :)

A fantastic collection of contemporary and modern art. There are a variety of Henry Moore sculptures of all shapes, sizes, and materials. I visited during the museum's 75th anniversary, where they had brought a broad range of pieces such as a Henri Matisse to Charles Bibs - overall a really thoughtfully organized exhibit in my view. They had an interesting glass exhibit as well. I skipped the Meso-American section, but it looked expansive as well. Highly recommend the third floor, minus one avant garde video piece - all other works are extremely intriguing.
