Mostly known for hosting the Rose Bowl, an off-season college football game traditionally played on New Year’s day, Pasadena is a classically California city on the edge of Los Angeles. The Rose theme continues with the Tournament of Roses, a yearly parade of flower bedecked floats also held on New Year’s. Cal-Tech is also situated here, with its ... Read more
richness of Nobel laureate intellectuals, while the botanical gardens at the Huntington Library are not to be missed. Interestingly, there is a large parrot population, made up of birds who have returned to the wild after supposedly being set free in a mid-20th century fire. An abundance of hacienda-style architecture adds to the charm, while proximity to L.A. and lots of other nearby attractions makes it a convenient destination.

Summer brings crowds to Los Angeles, booking up hotels along the coast and restaurants in the city. From September to May the area is less crowded, and the air less smoggy, though you may encounter the hot, dry ... Read more
Santa Ana winds. Headed to the beach? Don't go in June when the 'June Gloom' makes the beaches cold and foggy for most of the morning. The coast is always a bit cooler than inland (head to Santa Monica and not Hollywood if you want a breeze). Whatever time of year you go, however, you can leave your down coat at home.

It's rich with architecture, I love just walking and admiring it or admire while sitting outside at a cafe.

This is a fun city to go hang out in. It is definitely a unique place. I mean is it part of the SGV or not? Some say yes, some say no. I dont care either way.

It has some bad areas, some posh areas, and some WHOA areas. Literally it is home to some super dubious things like the Colorado Street Bridge sometimes better known as the Suicide Bridge. However it is also home to one of the 2 best known Parades in the US if not the world with the Rose Parade. Add to that the Rose Bowl an old town district that has gone through a recent revival.

There are all kinds of other fun things to do in this city. But the two most popular that I am aware of are to eat and spend time at a bar. I definitely have done a lot in this town and it is well worth coming to hang out.

The only things that I dont like are having to pay for parking, parking ticket nazi's, and ohhhh you cant park between 2 and 5 am on the street without a special parking pass =\ BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo!!!

None the less the city as a whole is still rather awesome IMHO. Who knows I may see you running around there one of these days...

City of Pasadena is big, with over 130,000 population. My review will be based on zipcode 91106 only. Which is the area that covers two college campus (PCC and Cal Tech)

Thumbs UP:
+ Parking is nightmare for the resident who live the two campus, students would likely park in their street spot. They need to enforce two hours parking more area; otherwise, student would keep taking advantage of that residential area.
+ This is the area when most of the car shop located in the foothill and some of best value eating-place like IN & Out, Tops, Dog Haus etc.
+ Good amount of transportation in the area with Gold line and bus also some bike lane near the campus.
+ Lake Avenue famous for its shopping and restaurant.
+ Most of the street is friendly for pedestrian especially the one near the campus, great for those who like walk with their dog.

Thumbs Down:
- Crime rate is a bit high, nothing serious mostly burglary and Theft, still lower than old town, when most drunk related incident occur.
- Housing cost a bit high considers the crime rate and poor public school.
- Traffic is still as bad as most Pasadena location, especially near the campus and freeway.

My Two Cents
This area is great for college student who goes to those one those campus, many transportation option and not too pricey also great for single and couple who make decent income. However, for someone who has a family or about to have the one, you might wanna look elsewhere like the Hastings Ranch area or Alhambra.

I've grown fond of you, Pasadena. I thought you were boring and culture-less, but oh, was I wrong. You are packed with interesting nooks and crannies, full of yummy treats for all my senses. Thanks for being so bikeable and walkable!

I think this city is one of the best mixes of old and new. I also love how the Metro cuts across the city for convenient access to DTLA and other parts of L.A. Great food, great shopping and many cute nooks all throughout!
