If you are student you better visit this museum if you haven't done so already. Clearly the best museum that don't cost money for student.

A lot of arts there are very first class of its kind. There's a lot security here to guard the artworks. Parking is free too. Half the arts are basically 14-19 century European Arts, while the rest in the lower section are South East Asia artwork and special exhibit which has still image.

Norton Simon MuseumThe Norton Simon Museum is known around the world as one of the most remarkable private art collections ever assembled. Over a thirty-year period 20th-century industrialist Norton Simon (1907–1993) amassed an astonishing collection of European art from the Renaissance to the 20th century and a stellar collection of South and Southeast Asian art spanning 2,000 years.

The Norton Simon Museum is a somewhat smaller museum yet the quality is amazing. It is easy to spent just an hour or so and come away rewarded for the experience. They have a nice outdoor courtyard section too.

This is a really awesome museum! Why? Well first, there's FREE parking! Second, if you have a student ID, you can get in FREE also! FREE PARTY!

The art is plentiful. There are lots of pieces of art from many different centuries. There's also the lower level where they have Asian/Southeast Asian art. The garden outside is really beautiful and a nice pond with gooses! There is a small little cafeteria/cafe type where you can grab some snacks if you're hungry.

Great little gem here in Pasadena. I've lived in sgv all my life and finally made my first trip to the Norton Simon museum. I was surprised to see artworks from van Gogh, Picasso, and the likes. Who needs to go to Europe when a mini collection is ~10 miles away. The sculpture garden is beautiful too, it's quite small but lovely enough for a quick 5 min stroll. I'd definitely come back!

This is a small jewel of an art museum. The collection includes European paintings, sculptures, and tapestries; Asian sculptures, paintings, and woodblock prints; and a sculpture garden displaying many works in a landscape setting around a large pond.

Norton Simon amassed an outstanding art collection including an extensive collection of Picasso and early twentieth century art which are now housed in the museum. In addition to his personal collections, the museum is a major repository for the artistic traditions of the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. There is also a significant sculpture garden containing an outstanding collection of Rodin and Henry Moore sculptures.

Something to look for: The color of the museum's exterior tiles change as the intensity of the sun reflects on them throughout the day.

Most people do not get to this gem in their LA travels, but it's really worth it if you are an art fan. It's not super large, but they have enough substantial pieces and interesting exhibits to warrant a trip. Great collection of Impressionist pieces and a sculpture garden that is a great place to sit in and enjoy a snack.

I visited the Norton Simon in December of last year. When I walked in, I could not believe that I have been missing out on this treasure for so many years! Being a fan of Edgar Degas I could not believe my eyes when I saw his "Froggy" Ballerina - he dabbled in to sculpture and obviously was not his forte, and so his ballerina stands on a pedestal in the middle of his show room, as if waiting for some one to pay a compliment.
The architecture of this museum awakens the senses, even if you are not an art buff, walk strait from entrance , through lobby to the out side and there you have a gorgeous Asian inspired garden that makes one want to chant OHM! and meditate for hours. Price: $$
