Originally built and opened in 1932 for the Philadelphia Saving Fund Society (PSFS), the building boasts being the first 'international style/modernist' skyscraper in the U.S and the second to have air conditioning. Of course, not everyone is enamored with its bold sleek look. Architect Frank Lloyd Wright said of the style: "neither international nor a style." One thing is for sure, you will receive the movie star treatment from checkin-- a harkening back to its roots, when the place was outfitted with Cartier clocks. The hotel lounge (w/big-screen TV for sports) and Bank and Bourbon bar and restaurant are both cozy and lively-- strong drinks, sweet bartenders. La Colombe coffee bar attached. And, placed in the middle of Market St. (West=numbers going up, East=numbers going down), you're within walking distance of it all!

Nice place but for the price I was expecting a lot more. The room, in my opinion, was just OK.

When thinking about high-end, centrally located hotels in Philadelphia, the Loews property immediately comes to mind. Modern stylings, excellent customer service, a myriad of amenities and one of the best locations in town define this hotel. It offers views of downtown and City Hall from the cocktail lounge that are hard to beat!

Hassan at the front took care of me and checked me into the 31st floor, which was an absolutely beautiful view of downtown Philadelphia and the rooms were equally spectacular. So incredibly chic and modern, yet large and spacious. This was definitely a luxury stay.

Yet, the prime location is what really made this hotel a standout. It's just one block away from Reading terminal (home to hundreds of amazing food vendors) and central to all the major attractions in downtown Philly (the LOVE sign, Liberty Bell etc). Everything is basically walking distance from this hotel!

I read some horror reviews on parking in the downtown area and decided to play it safe and pay the $30ish for overnight parking. Yes, it's steep, but better safe than sorry right?

I guess it is supposed to be worth the price. Room was ok, employees were mot the most courteous. Not such a big deal

In one sense it is really cool that this hotel in the old PSFS building used be a major bank. In another sense, it can be a little creepy walking through the stone-lined hallways and past huge vaults. But overall, they've done an excellent job at making this a luxurious oasis in the heart of downtown. The fitness center is one of the biggest I've seen for a city hotel and I simply love the Lobby Bar. In fact, one of my 4 stars is for the bar alone. I could hang there all afternoon, with my laptop, WiFi access and a gin martini. Living large baby!

Very contemporary hotel just a block from the Reading Terminal Market. Great rooms and a full size fitness center that is just adjacent to full service spa. Spacious lounge with lots of private conversation areas. Really like the closeness to shopping and the market!

I thought the staff was great. They were friendly and able to place my husband and I in an adjoining room to my children and thier caregiver on a very busy weekend. The room was fine and spacious, with a great view of the city. The only downside for us was that the regrigerator did not keep things cold, and we needed to have milk and some snacks for our little ones. Other than that, I thought it was great.
