If you want to eat spiders (and other similar "shock" food), this is the best place to do it, apart from street vendors. Apart from this I'm not sure Romdeng is worth the hype, but then again eating tarantulas is not something you can do every day.

This is the place for adventurous eaters! You can probably find similar eats sold by street vendors, but this restaurants provides a finer dining experience. Tarantula's were great...ant soup wasn't quite my cup of tea.

One of the best places for authentic Khmer cusine in Phnom Penh - Romdeng is part of the Tree Allience, an NGO charity training younger staff for future employment - so eating a meal here is supporting their work. It is - a tourist restaurant - but hey, we ARE tourists!

Didn't go for the tarantula spiders but the Fish Amok is good :) Highly Recommended.

Romdeng, part of the Friends charity, is in this beautiful old French Colonial building. It helps give skills and jobs to kids who might not otherwise have these opportunities. The food is great - I skipped the famed Tarantula (which they bring to the table live) and went for some more classic Cambodian food. So well cooked, servers were really nice and spoke excellent English. Great cocktail menu, too.

Romdeng is considered to be one of the best places in Phnom Penh for refined Cambodian food. There's a wide selection of food, including a vegetarian section. I recommend trying the fried taro and pork rolls. For the adventurous eater, Romdeng offers fried tarantulas as a snack delicacy. The tarantulas don't taste that bad; it's mostly crunchy.
