Stayed for 4 nights. Close to airport, friendly service. Wish the cafe had more vegetarian offerings. Great pool area. Quiet and clean.

First off, this hotel has some of the plushest beds I've ever seen. That isn't usually a selling point for me; I don't need a ridiculously soft mattress or bevy of extra pillows, but these were an exception. Hilton always excels at luxury, so I expected the olympian swimming pool and top-notch service. What I didn't expect was the (wait for it) communal feeling. The lobby is gigantic, and it's a veritable train station of activity. I'm so accustomed to a well-decorated-but-hollow center, yet the Hilton has bright windows, multiple floors, and vaulted architecture that makes you want to linger. Meanwhile, there's a wonderful little café, Brewed Awakenings. The hours are strange; it's hard to predict when it will be open, since the staff seem to take off for lunch. But en lieu of somewhere else to go, I could have hung around the lobby all day. The gym is also resplendent with brand-new machines. The only weaknesses are the restaurants, Rimrock and Rennick's, which don't have much in the way of atmosphere. Still, it's nice to have an in-house place to find a nightcap, and the Kentucky Sidecar does the trick.

Although this hotel looks kind of dated from the outside, inside it's shiny and new. The spacious lobby is stunning. You'll want to hang out here all day. The pool at the centerpiece is pretty too. I can for sure see families liking that perk. There's two on-site restaurants and a coffee shop that make up for the lack of restaurants and shops surrounding the hotel. The free shuttle will take you to the airport. Even though this hotel is really close to Sky Harbor, I didn't hear too much air traffic. The hotel has been renovated and smells new. The rooms all feature balcony, a nice perk. Expect basic, modern furniture and generally nice decor.

The Hilton Phoenix Airport seems to come out of nowhere. One minute you're driving on a winding side street, and the next minute the Hilton Phoenix Airport rises out of a giant parking lot. It's a behemoth of a hotel. The lobby is quite big, with tall ceiling and lots of natural light streaming through the skylights. I love the decor, which includes black and white framed prints of desert plants, cushy chairs and lots of agave plantings (not sure if they were real or plastic, but either way they helped give the lobby a clean, modern look that I love). Most rooms have views of the pool, which is located in the inner courtyard. The hotel is close to Tempe and Phoenix, but there aren't many nearby options for dining or shopping. The hotel does have two restaurants though, so you're covered on that front. If you want a nice, business class hotel near the airport (with complimentary airport shuttle, to boot), you'll want to check out the Hilton Phoenix Airport.

First to Review

Walking into the lobby of the Hilton Phoenix Airport, the first thing that struck me was the décor: a sort of modern twist on the classic Southwestern style, complete with faux blue ocotillo cacti (what the front desk manager, Christine, called her “Avatar” jungle.) This look is present throughout the hotel: from the carpets and drapes are done up in Navajo-esque prints to the cast iron kokopelli (the hunchbacked flute players that seem to crop up all over the Valley) in the bathrooms. The rooms themselves have been partially renovated, outfitted with modern fixtures such as a large high-def television and coffee/tea machines. The staff was friendly, helpful, and dedicated: according to Christine, some of the housekeepers had been working there since the hotel’s opening 20 years ago. Being close to the airport, the Hilton caters to travelers and offers 24-hour shuttle service to Sky Harbor, along with Hertz rental car pickups out front.
