I'm not an avid golfer, but I think even non-golfers like me will find the Legacy Golf Resort a beautiful place to take a break from everyday life. During my visit - in the height of summer - the golf course was impeccable. Clearly, the greenskeeper here knows what he or she is doing. What I really enjoyed about the Legacy Golf Resort is how peaceful and quiet it is. One minute you're stuck in traffic on Baseline Road, but then as soon as you cross the resort gates, time seems to slow down. This is definitely not the snazziest or most luxurious resort in town, but if you love golf and you're looking for a quiet, well-kept getaway, this place has it. The resort also has a restaurant, golf shop, clubhouse, nice swimming pool, children's playground, shuffleboard courts, and many green spaces. Some of the units reminded me of a nice apartment/condo - not the most charming resort rooms, but clean and comfy nonetheless.

Legacy Golf Resort is sort of aptly named – it preserves a legacy of about 15 years ago. When I visited, I only got to see the model room, so my pictures aren't really suggestive of how you may find your room, but it's something your room can...strive to be.

Everything from the kitchenette to the tiling in the bathroom seems a bit tacky, outdated. The rooms have been updated with modern flat-screen TVs but that appears to be about it. They do offer the range of ammenities you'd expect from a suite, so if you do end up staying here there won't be much reason to leave the resort, except for hitting up the onsite golf course (writing in the summer, they're pretty cheap if you're down to face the heat or wake up before 5). There's a lot to do at the resort, from shuffleboard to tennis; there's even a playground for the kids.

One complaint about the one pool: its location. The Legacy is a massive estate, set up in a series of buildings surrounding a quite pretty courtyard, but if you come in the summer prepare for an epic trek down to the watering hole.

South Phoenix has a few nice areas with decent resorts. Fortunately, this is a golf resort and, boy, does Phoenix know how to do a golf club. With a great number of them in town, the Legacy Golf Resort might be one of the more inexpensive options, but it’s a good, solid choice. I mean, it’s just fine; especially for a golf trip. The rooms felt to me on the bland side. Kind of like your aunt’s tract home. It does has either a full kitchen or kitchenette. I wouldn’t say it’s in the best area for nightlife, if that’s on the agenda, but the resort, itself, has food, drink, pool and spa, so you don’t really need to leave. The staff is friendly and helpful and seems to want to be there (that’s a plus). And, this is different than a number of resorts in town - there is no additional resort fee! That alone deserves three stars. I guess it makes the stay feel a little more honest. Let’s talk the golf course: designed by Gary Panks; 6,908 yards; par 71 and the sight of an LPGA tournament in the 2000. If I played golf, I’d probably consider checking in.

The Legacy Golf Resort is a decent hotel. Call me spoiled but it doesn't live up to the standards of, "resort," in the Phoenix area. Hence the 3 stars, its not bad. The rooms could use a face lift, the 90s weren't that cool. I did enjoy the circular pool and sun bathing area but it didn't pop, "resort!" The staff was courteous to me and assisted me with any questions I had. I will say however if you feel like drinking and golfing all weekend at an affordable location it serves a purpose. Being a golfer I appreciated how well they maintain their grounds, tip top shape!
