This was a nice hotel with a very friendly front desk staff. The place was clean and everything worked. The neighborhood is not the greatest, but if you are looking for a less expensive place to stay in Phoenix, I would recommend it.

Normally the name "Red Roof Inn" haunts my dreams, as I remember all the Red Roofs I ever endured traveling around Pennsylvania. But this Red Roof is a genuine shocker: beautiful rooms, plush mattresses, wide-screen TVs, and smoke-free grounds. The outdoor pool is a perfectly decent rectangle of water. The real bonus: a crib. I'm a new parent, and I assume these are more common than I realized, but as someone who would never have imagined taking a child to a Red Roof Inn, I was impressed how easily their portable cribs could be requested. This particular Red Roof is much pricier than the ones I'm used to, but after a very pleasant experience I may have to reevaluate the franchise.

This budget hotel is surrounded by a bunch of other hotels and is right off the highway. It looks ok from the outside. The lobby does look very modern and pretty. It's a budget hotel with no gym or office. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations and you might be able to snag a newer room if you ask. I'd recommend this hotel for those seeking a budget hotel with clean rooms. It's not in the greatest area of town, but it doesn't seem unsafe.

There are a lot of budget chain hotels located near the I-10 and 51st Avenue, but the Red Roof Inn stands out because it's one of the nicest in that strip of hotels. Why? Well, first of all it has a really nice lobby - small, yes, but simply and tastefully decorated with plush leather arm chairs and silk flower arrangements. More importantly, everything looked darn near spotless. The hotel was pretty crowded with families when I visited, and I can see why it's popular. You get a lot of bang for your buck here. Free wifi, a free hot breakfast, nice pool, and a complimentary 24-hour airport shuttle (the airport is not very close, so that's definitely a nice bonus) are all included. The staff was super friendly and nice when I was there, which I sometimes take for granted (even though it's so important). One last thing: the lobby smells like rich, dark coffee - no complaints from me.

The Red Roof Inn seems to be pretty popular – I asked to see a room on two separate days, and both times was told that the hotel was booked up. Perhaps a good sign. The rooms are simple, and modern. I liked the look – and even the smell – of the room, very bright and clean (on both fronts). I’m not big on floral prints, and appreciated the understated decoration of the Red Roof Inn. Flat screen television: always a plus. Unfortunately, the four-story hotel doesn’t offer much in terms of a view; one side faces the nearby interstate and the other overlooks a barren sandlot. There’s a bit of a variety in food selections available nearby: the McDowell Square shopping center across the street has Mexican, Chinese and even an English fish and chips place to choose from, along with some chain fast food joints (both McDonalds and Burger King) right around the corner.
