This is a one-of-a-kind museum you won't want to miss. Innovative, interactive exhibits bring musical instruments to life as you pass in front of them... the exhibits are cued with headphones so that as you approach them, you hear the instrument being played. There are also fabulous performances. Check out their schedule when you're visiting.

Fantastic museum to learn about the history of music and instruments not only in the United States but from all over the world. It is also very hands on and will take you about three hours to see, hear, and touch everything.

Hands down one of the best attractions the Valley has to offer! Authentic musical instruments from all over the world. If you are into music at all, this museum is a must! It's clean, the staff is friendly, the grounds are beautiful, the exhibits are exciting. We take people here when they visit from out of town.

About 30 minutes from the house.

If you're searching for a way to really experience music, head here. You'll see Johnny Cash's Grammy and instruments, the piano John Lennon used to compose "Imagine," and Eric Clapton's beloved guitar. At the end, you can even test out your musical skills by playing instruments. There's also a ton of exhibits featuring musical instruments from all over the world. You wear a pair of headphones and as you approach certain exhibits, you'll start to hear the instrument play. All in all, this is a really neat museum, especially for those who love music.

I took my nephew to the Musical Instrument Museum and we had a ball. The museum is dedicated to music and instruments from around the world. The galleries are organized according to continent and country, and it provides a great overview to the importance and vitality of music in every corner on earth. The first floor has a great interactive gallery where kids (and adults!) can play with world instruments. We loved the hall dedicated to old-time nickelodeons and other historic music-making devices. Truly a one of a kind place to visit in Phoenix.

Just as it's name implies, this is tops in it's field. A paraphrase by Tony Bennett, a declared museum/history buff, "it's the best museum in the world and I've been to most"! Worth the 20 minute drive to north Scottsdale via the 101 freeway.

This place is incredible! More than I was expecting. Plan to spend at least a couple hours here. There's so much to see. They could expand the gift shop, though. But that's a lesser concern.

Check out MIM's website for concerts. You often find up-and-coming artists performing, and sometimes artists that have been around "forever". Also has regular activities for children.

Even though I am not a big music fan or even a museum person, this place is a must see. I don't want to ruin it by telling you anything except it is an experience you will not forget.
