Such a great place to relax and chill...... Diving was okay.... The boat ride to the southern islands was amazing!...... Snorkeling off of the shore was great...... tropical fruit every where you went...... Lovely items to buy that will be treasured...... Several deserted beaches where we were the only people around...... A hidden treasure... But not for too much longer.... As it is getting more popular.... Go if you can.... With the time and effort getting there!

Small, beauty & quiet island, with some of most beautiful beach in Vietnam, also great & cheap food.

Phu Quoc Island is absolutely amazing and is a hidden island gem in Vietnam. For now, most of the visitors in Phu Quoc are local Vietnamese on holiday, whether it's for a honeymoon or a getaway with the family. No more than an hour flight from Saigon, Phu Quoc offers to-die for seafood and quiet serene beaches at an affordable price.

You should stay on Sao Beach because at this time of the year (May-August), the winds are calmer on the Sao beach side so the waters are cleaner, clearer, and bluer. A bit pricier than the other side, but I think you can still find a nice hotel/guesthouse for $15-20/day.

It's an hour plane ride from saigon (bought the flight tickets at a travel agent while I was in saigon - just shop around and see where you can get the cheapest price). I think it cost around $50 to go one-way.

Oh, and do the snorkeling trip! The waters deep and clear, so you'll get to see a lot. I had raw sea urchin, with some fish sauce, on the boat, and it was so delicious! Much better than any sea urchin you might get a Japanese restaurant. I don't know where else you can eat raw sea urchin! In fact, I'm craving it now...

the most beautiful island in Vietnam, Phu Quoc is liberally sprinkled with picture-perfect white sand beaches and cloaked in dense, impenetrable jungle. Long Beach is sophisticated, Ong Lan Beach romantic, and Bai Sao simply irresistible.

Although the largest island in Vietnam, Phu Quoc remains a relatively untouched destination. The tropical interior is complimented by palm-lined, white-sand beaches and an unhurried island way of life. From Phu Quoc, a short flight takes you to Saigon for one night before flying home.

This place was great. lovely island, not many people, great beaches. The night market has great food. I stayed a week and spent all told $300. Would go back in a second. The tourist snorkling and fishing things were that great, but just being out on a boat was fun.
