Well worth a visit. The barbican is full of pubs and restaurants. There is also a great shopping centre if you feel like some retail therapy.

The biggest city in the region with a long naval history. A large shopping centre and plenty of places for entertainment for all the family.

The city in south west Devon is influenced heavily by its significance as a port and barracks for the Royal Navy. Plymouth is at the mouths of two rivers, the Plym and the Tamar, where they enter the sea into the Plymouth Sound. Plymouth has a large harbour and is on the Cornish border. You can drive up to the western side of Plymouth and look out over the harbour to see naval ships.

PLYMOUTH is a maritime city across the River Tamar via the Torpoint ferry or Tamar Bridge. There is plenty to see and do, including the National Marine Aquarium, large shopping centres and the historic Barbican Quay and Royal William Yard. The Theatre Royal brings new productions to Plymouth in the autumn and winter months.

Plymouth, Devon is a fantastic place to visit, whether staying there or on a day trip, there's plenty for you to see and do. Plenty of historial sites and things; fantastic shopping in the City; great things to see and do at the Hoe and great boat trips around the harbour. Don't miss it!

I am, very obviously, biased towards Plymouth, what with it being my hometown! Although I was born there so long ago, I have very fond and loving memories of visiting several times during my childhood and teens and it will, always, remain in my heart as one of the most beautiful and peaceful cities in the UK.

I lived there up to the age of six and do not remember a lot of my upbringing there. although I am grateful that my Mum was from there too and, if not for the fact that she married a Mancunian and we all had to relocate to Manchester then I'd move back there tomorrow!

It is set in one of the most beautiful counties in this country and I often remember seeing the Wrigley's chewing gum factory whilst on the coach going down there ( it's located right on the outskirts of The City of Plymouth and as soon as I saw that landmark I knew that we were getting closer to our destination.

I can, only, say that my stays there were of re-uniting with my Grandmother and two of my sisters, as well as their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren! and complete joys to experience! Loads of outdoor activities and some of the nicest people in the World plus their scrumpy cider was lethal!

Apart from that, if I wanted to retire somewhere in the UK I'd, very obviously, opt for Plymouth, so that I could catch up with my extended family and get spoilt rotten too!
