The National Marine Aquarium is the UK's largest aquarium and is run by a conservation charity - all profits from the ticket prices go towards protecting the marine environment. A visit to the aquarium is a great activity for the family on a rainy day in Plymouth. The displays take visitors from Plymouth Sound to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Being in such close proximity to sharks, rays, turtles and jellyfish is amazing and a highlight is being present when the shark-feeding takes place!

Discover an underwater world – starting with the largest native exhibition in the UK – that explores the fish you’ve heard of and the many more mysterious animals that live on our doorstep. As you dive deeper into the Aquarium, our Eddystone Reef tank will blow your mind with the UK’s largest single-tank viewing panel (it’s like a fishy cinema screen).

We are a conservation charity. By visiting us you are helping to protect the marine environment, whilst having a great experience at the Aquarium. You can find out more about what we do in the About Us section of the website.

A great day out with or without the kids, one of the largest in the country. Great to combine this with a trip to Mitch Tonks Rocfish next door.

The National Marine Aquarium is the largest public aquarium in the UK. Awe-inspiring exhibits, featuring marine animals from near and far, provide an environment that intrigues, inspires and motivates visitors.

National marine aquarium

Really nice place to go out for a family day. Lots of other activities to do other than the marine life.

Some wonderful things to see. The entry allows for 12 months free entry from then onwards. However, as others have mentioned there is little new to see for frequent visitors.

Good for small children and people not familiar with Aquariums but there is little new if you've been to many before. 2 very large tanks with nice seating areas

The National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth is an excellent, educational and fun place to take the children for a day out. It has an incredible amount of fish and sea life. Sharks, seahorses etc. There's so much to see and do there. All of the exhibits are close up and you can have a really good look at them all. It feels like you are actually in the water with the exhibits! There's a cafe, so you can have a cuppa and a rest, before visiting the gift shop. Allow yourself plenty of time for a visit - there's so much to be seen.
