Owned by the chef of Le Pigeon---like a small French Bistro, very meat-centric, and very very good.

Great French bistro. We sat at the bat where the bartender answered out questions about wines and food. Superb foie gras with rhubarb and green strawberries.

Six of us came here on a Saturday evening with no reservations and they kindly seated us at the bar could enjoy their food together. The Bartender who served us was really gracious and frequently came around to get us drinks as well as serve drinks for the rest of the restaurant. The seared Fois Gras was delicious as well as their special of the day which was Salmon and a delicious nectarine salad. I would definitely recommend this place to others

I had been hesitant to try Little Bird when I kept hearing that Le Pigeon was the place to go. But after doing some more research (ok, yes it was just scouring the yelp reviews), I decided that Little Bird might be a better bang for the buck!

Glad we ended up going here, since I felt like we ordered almost everything off the menu and it was my chance to eat foie gras again since we live in San Francisco!

Overall we had a good meal, although the service was a bit rough at the start. I can never tell if waiters needs some time to warm up or if they're just trying to make up for being rude earlier so that they get a good tip! Either way, we had good company, so I tuned our waiter's edginess out. Sadly, it seems that others have had similar experiences here.

TIP: Definitely make reservations!

The first night in Portland and I wanted to dine here for dinner. Off we walk from our hotel to the restaurant in less then five minutes.

Upon our arrival, I felt in love with the high ceiling and two-stories dining design. Everything looked intimate, trendy, and inviting. I am glad we got to dine upstairs with a beautiful view of the gloomy sky to looking down into the main dining floor.

We ordered:

- Oyster = raw,nice velvety smooth texture.

- Sheep cheese gnocchi = dense, dry, and salty texture. I had better.

- Grilled pork chop = buttermilk vinaigrette help gave the pork chop a hint of flavors. Everything else was on this dish was boring.

- Sturgeon = the only suitable dish of the night. Tasty and perfectly portion.

- Crème Brûlée = not the best or worst dessert. Simple.

Although the food was not to my expectation, I did enjoyed the company and the wonderful friendly staff. Maybe it was their off night...would like to give them a second chance in the near future.

Le Pigeon's sister restaurant did not disappoint one bit!

Fantastic late night dining experience in downtown Portland! Late night happy hour is the way to go! :) Super easy to get to since we were staying at one of the many hotels in the area. We walked in and found seats at the bar, though perhaps in the future, calling ahead or making a reservation might be a good idea.

The food was great, and the staff was friendly. We will definitely come back here in the future!

Also a good spot for Californians to get their foie fix!

I had an early dinner here at Little Bird during a recent solo business trip to the Rose City. I sat at the handsome copper top bar and enjoyed a Le Pigeon Burger (with wine), while I watched this French Bistro world around me. From my front corner position, I had a direct view into the kitchen, the hungry folks coming in, the dining room, and of course the folks sitting and standing behind me. It was all very fun and fascinating.

It takes an excellent restaurant to make a great burger (with salad and frites) and Little Bird really really came through (including the wine pairings). Best of all, I loved the energy of this place, and especially some of the learned wine conversation that was going on at the bar. I also had the feeling that everyone on both sides of the counter knew each other, and that I was really part of a casual dinner party. The space is also sexy and just the place for a romantic European dinner with Gayle.

Gabriel Rucker's second Portland restaurant is amazing. Local wine, simple but flavorful dishes, and friendly servers. If the Little Bird Bistro was in my neighborhood, I would be a regular.

Excellent French bistro. Newer restaurant by the same people from Le Pigeon. If the Onion Gratinee is on the menu, order it.
