This storefront in the Alphabet District is not too large, with several tables inside and some benches outside for customers to enjoy while chatting/people-watching. The line can get long as the workers help customers one party at a time (similar to Frostbites), allowing for customers to sample to their hearts' desires before making a well-intentioned purchase. They don't only offer ice cream, but they have sundaes, floats, and milkshakes as well. There are the staple Salt & Straw flavors as well as limited time flavors that rotate out over a period of time.

Everything was so unique sounding, and since we had never really had the full Salt & Straw experience, we took our time trying the samples. The worker helping us was incredibly friendly and patient as we decided on flavors to craft for our perfect tasting flight. I was able to try a variety of flavors including some unique ones like the bone marrow and smoked cherries, pear with blue cheese, and Schilling cider caramel apple - all of them were unique tasting and definitely something I wouldn't mind eating more of, but we ended up going with the more popular flavors for the flight:

Hey Boo Coconut Jam and Rice Crispy Treats - this was my flavor of choice as the coconut jam was on the lighter side and tasted quite refreshing, while the rice crispy treats added a crunch to every bite.

Honey Lavender - not a fan of this flavor, but my sister liked the purple undertones and the fragrant-ness from the lavender. I thought the ice cream was too sweet and the flavor a bit cloying, which made it hard to finish after several bites.

Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons - always a staple, and I do agree that it's one of the better sea salt and caramel ice creams I've had. Rich and creamy with the sea salt balancing the sweetness of the ice cream. This went really well with the waffle cone.

Coava Coffee and Cloudforest Craque - I personally don't enjoy coffee ice cream, but I could appreciate the earthy and almost bitter undertones of this flavor. It wasn't too sweet, which was another plus. I think there were little chips of chocolate within the ice cream - something I always enjoy as it gives an added texture bonus to the overall smoothness of ice cream.

Going with the flight was a great choice, but adding that waffle cone was an even better one. For just an additional $1, you get a quarter of the freshly made cone in every flight bowl. If you put each quarter together, you'd get the usual waffle cone shape where you can add ice cream inside. Now you can try the cone by itself, add ice cream to it, use it as a spoon, whatever - just order it if you have the chance. You can smell the waffle cones cooking as you enter the store, and it's honestly amazing - both scentwise and tastewise. Loved the crispiness of the cone and the added sweetness that it gave to the ice cream.

What made this visit all the more better was the enthusiasm of the workers as they helped the guests. I don't remember who helped us, but she looked genuinely enthusiastic to help us get to the flavors we wanted. She took time to talk to us and became even more determined once she heard that it was our first time visiting a Salt & Straw.

This place is amazing! There are great choices for all personalities and for those trying to look for something new. If you don't mind a line of about 1hr, then you will definitely have fun trying all different flavors and grabbing some. The habanero one is definitely a must try.

If you've got a sweet tooth, Salt and Straw has some awesome ice cream flavors! Really creative and super yummy as well. There can be a bit of a line at times, but it's worth the wait in my opinion :)

Excellent ice cream with unique flavours in this trendy Nob Hill eatery. Prices are a little pricey but well worth it given that you will not find these varieties anywhere else. Seating is limited so take away and enjoy in the sun. The surrounding area is full of cool shops and cafes so plenty to see and do out here.

The almond brittle & salted ganache is my favorite from this spot. Not only do they let you try any and everything you want, the flavors are all great. Also a fan of the Oregon Rocky Road!
