Prague’s Old Town lies at the heart of modern Prague and has been constantly inhabited since the ninth century. Originally, all of Prague was contained within the current boundaries of Old Town. It ... Read more
was surrounded by high walls and a large moat and was home to the royal court and many wealthy merchants. Notable Prague land marks, including the Astronomical Clock and Tyn Church are located in Old Town’s central square, which originally served as a public market and as a staging site for military parades and now serves principally as a tourist attraction.

The Old Town is beautiful place which looks like the time stopped and you are back in old ages. It is typical touristic area so the restaurants there are more expensive but on the other side-bars doesn't close before 5 am.

We spent 5 days and enjoyed 3 amazing concerts in Prague. Coming from NY we are used to high priced concerts. Not in Prague! Front row seats for the price of a glass of NYC theater wine! The venues are historic gems and the musicians talented. Don't miss at least one opportunity to sit with an international audience... All understanding the universal language of music. It's a close encounter of the human kind.

too many people (tourists) for those narrow streets. it's difficult to enjoy the place entirely even though it's beautiful.

You have to really walk around and look at the buildings to appreciate how different they all are.

Really liked walking around here. The architecture and other sites are very interesting. Bring your walking shoes and protect your valuables. Great place to watch the locals and tourists.

There is so much to see and appreciate in the Old Town. The buildings alone make the streets a delight to walk along.

We loved just walking around Old Town. The square was great, as was the church and the astronomical clock. I just love seeing all the old buildings all around me, though.

This is a wonderful backdrop for sipping hot wine in the winter, and is the home of an absolutely glorious Christmas tree and markets around this time! You can stop off and buy traditional handmade Czech goods and delectable pastries! If you are there at this time (particularly in the night), I highly recommend going up the clock tower to take a peep. Amazing birds eye view!

When you visit Stare Mesto (Old Town) you're visiting the very heart of Prague dating back to the 12th century.

Even to the casual observer, Prague just looks different. Instead of an endless array of pastel-colored grand old buildings from the 19th century, Prague is a wonderful mess of narrow streets and towers with soaring spires. I didn't visit that many museums during my time in Prague. Rather I was content to wander around, smoke cigarettes in the main squares, hang out reading books in medieval cellars that have been converted into cafes and eat dinner outdoors at one beer garden or another. This was TRUE Bohemian living.

It's the heart of old Prague, filled with history, an overcrowded center, and enjoyable narrow cobblestone streets lined with shops and restaurants. Check it out, stroll around, and mingle - but don't forget to venture into the other towns as well.

I will say that Old Town Prague was more beautiful than I expected it to be. It was clean and actually very expensive but I can't wait to return.

The Old Town is the best things about Prague. It's filled with buildings that have been around for centuries. Since everything is so compact, nearly everything is within walking distance.

The Old Town with Teynkirche in the background.
Prague is one of the best destination (the most romantic place for me) in Europe, not only because of its attractions (e.g. Charles Bridge, The Prague Castle, Petrin Tower), but also because of the warmth of the CzechPraguian. ☺☺☺

Prague is a small town but its full of Romance I think. Walked around in Old Town for some people watching and food tasting. Luckily there was a street food with yummy Prague Beer and food! Oh and if you can find a Fried Cheese Stand! A heart attack but totally worth it!

I loved visiting the old town. You definitely felt you had been taken back in time. Lots of quaint little streets, shops and people wanting to know where you were from.
