Description
Aptly named for its location in the Old Town quarter of Prague, Old Town Square is the oldest and most populated square in this historic city. While there are a number of architectural styles that can ... Read more
be seen throughout the space, the dominating figure is the Church of Our Lady before Tyn, a massive Gothic structure completed in the 15th century. Visitors can also check out the astronomical clock, the Jan Hus Memorial, and the baroque St. Nicholas Church. The square is closed to traffic and serves as the setting for many outdoor restaurants, bars and cafes as well as for stalls selling traditional Czech arts and crafts.

This is one of two must see spots in Prague. If you go to Prague and miss the Staroměstské Náměstí then you have failed on your trip to Prague. There are no ands ifs or buts about it.

The buildings surrounding this plaza are glorious and will make your visit awe inspiring. It is beautiful. Let alone a great tourist attraction. If I lived there, I would avoid it like the plague, but as a tourist, its a must stop.

The history involved in this place is lengthy and important. Nowadays, its filled with street performers, food vendors, pick pockets (so the signs say, luckily i didnt have an issue with them), and many other things equally interesting. You can get horse drawn carriage rides, ham-hocks, or a picture with a giant children's character. Heck in the summer they even have water trucks running around spraying water into the air for the crowds to cool down and enjoy. Even on the edge of the spray trucks is a wonderful mist.

None the less the buildings surrounding the square are incredibly beautiful and well worth seeing to say the least. So if you make it to Prague errr Praha (as the Czech's call it) come to Staroměstské Náměstí.

A really nice place to enjoy the city. The historic astronomical clock is in this square as well as many historic buildings. I advise you to venture elsewhere for food - the restaurants on this block will be extremely overpriced for the same meal you could get on a side alley.

Just like a psychedelic trip to the past. You can get lost on the dead end alleys, or find a subterranean bar by chance. You just never get tired.

The Old Town Square in Prague is beautiful! Get there early to see the clock. It's a relatively short walk to the famous St. George Bridge as well. Lots of restaurants.

Beautiful square with very nice buildings. Down point is this is where all the tourist traps happen. Taxis overcharge, money exchange offices are dodgy, and shops and restaurants are significantly more expensive than other places

Old Town Square is covered in history. There is no place where you aren't surrounded in Czech's rich and deep culture. I would recommend doing a ghost tour underground here, it is very fun and interesting and learn about a dark side of Prague. This is a very popular tourist attraction so it is very crowded, so if you are going with family keep kids close!

Had an amazing experience on my visit here! If you can, enjoy a free walking tour with an inspirational tourguide Keith, he can be found everyday at 11 am at old town square right next to the clock carrying a green umbrella. This place is definately worth visiting! :)

Beautiful historic buildings can be found here. Enjoy watching the buskers. Restaurants are very expensive but great to sit outside to watch the activity.

The centre of the Old Town and the hub of all activity in Prague this is a must-see place. There is the Astronomical Clock with its hourly displays, the Dali Museum, St Nicholas Church, restaurants, bars and City Tours. Watch out for the crowds as it gets very busy and be wary of Segways speeding across the square. In winter there is a Christmas Market that has a good selection of food and gifts but it is nothing compared to German Christmas Markets so don't visit just for that reason.

The old town square is a tourist attraction in Prague and it's not hard to understand why. Beautiful buildings and lots of restaurants and pubs.

Good vibes, street performances, and tasty local street snacks! It's worth coming on an evening after dinner! Also, they have small shops and souvenir shops around the area!

Old town square is a huge part of Prague's history, magic, and whimsy. It's larger-than-life but quaint and picturesque all at the same time. This is the square where you'll find the Astronomical Clock, the Tyn Cathedral, St. Nicholas Church and Jon Hus statue. I'm also pretty sure that at least one infamous defenestration occurred in this square (no, it's not THAT "defenestration of prague"-- that's at New Town Hall).

You'll likely make your way here, by chance or with purpose, at some point on any trip to Prague. I'd advise against eating at any of the restaurants located in the square, simply because they're bound to be clogged with tourists, but having a late night drink there is definitely encouraged-- the view of the square while drinking a cold pilsner is fantastic.

Old Town Square is filled with cheery colored buildings and, of course, the star of the show is the Astronomical Clock.

A huge square in the center of Old Town. Shops and food stalls serving everything from ice cream to traditional Czech delicacies to beer abound. Here you can grab a beer, see the Astronomical Clock, shop for souvenirs, take a horse drawn tour, and see local fire spinners and bagpipers. Try the restaurant U Tyna and people watch.

Selfie sticks and over-prices pilsner, the Old Town Square is tourist heaven. Or hell. Depends what you're looking for I guess. Of course, still a must when in Prague.
