Puerto Escondido Vacations

Puerto Escondido is a small port town in southern Mexico’s Oaxaca state. Its beaches are famous the world over for their excellent surfing conditions. These beaches and their calmer counterparts are the town’s principle tourist draws, and major ones at that. Some beaches, like Zicatela Beach, have huge waves ideal for competition level surfing. ... Others, like Playa Marinero, are better suited for swimmers and beachgoers. The beaches in Puerto Escondido are not as developed as in some other areas of Oaxaca, partially due to its rustic, downscale reputation. Most visitors are on a budget, likely backpackers, surfers or Mexican families, so the town has a casual feel. Prices are cheap and amenities more than satisfactory. Any visitor to the area should strongly consider Puerto Escondido.

Can you say BALLER?! This place is amaze balls! I'm so glad we are not in a tourist trap or staying in a hotel. It's like staying in your own private beach.

I was planning on staying three days in Puerto Escondido. Ended up staying 10 (and I don't even surf, really). It's an awesome place to meet other travelers and if you're down to party, this is your town (although there are quieter, more family oriented sections of beach).

Loved it! Small and cosy with a beautiful sandy beach when you can enjoy coconut with chilli!

One of the world's most perfect spots in which to totally and completely chill out. I came here on a surf trip (even though I don't surf) with some friends for a week, and it was the sort of place I could have spent a month. Here's a dare: Just try to spend a few days here and feel stressed out. You won't be able to do it, I assure you. Long stretches of surfer-laden beaches are interspersed with inexpensive restaurants covered by thatched roofs and palapas serving lobster and margaritas. Mmm. I miss it just thinking about it.

This place is a surfer's paradise. Warm water, great weather and incredibly perfect and powerful waves.

I highly recommend Tower Bridge Hostel, extremely cheap prices, 20min walk from the airport and 15min from the beach, 10/10
