Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The spooky name comes from the days when pirates would slash and burn their way through the village. The name has not stopped either local residents or crowds of tourists from enjoying all the pleasures of this very popular beach. Drop your fishing line off either the New Pier or the rocks farther south, but do not let a hungry pelican snatch your catch!

Visit Old Towne and the beach just a short walk from the malecon. Catch the water taxi to Mismaloya or Yelapa at the new pier. Or have dinner at one of the many restaurants here.

A very Bohemian hang out, from the elegant upscale to budget travelers. Friendly, fun, beach vendors, strolling musicians

This was one of the best beaches in PVR with lots of tourists, and many restaurants with umbrella chairs. Day or night time, its a nice place to relax. Also have outdoor beach activities like Jet Ski and Parasailing.

Playa Los Muertos is Puerto Vallarta's best beach. It sits at the south end of the Malecon, boardwalk, and there are umbrellas already set-up for tourists. You only need to order a drink or food to sit at any of them. The drinks are relatively cheap, $6 for a margarita. This is where all the action is. It's a great place to take a dip to cool off. Relax with friends or family or to watch gorgeous people walk by. The southern part of the sea of umbrellas is popular with gays, although the entire area has a mix of people. If you want an ocean front umbrella come early. But, use tons of sunblock. I got burned being totally under an umbrella for just a couple of hours from the water's reflection.

Great private beach, beautiful swimming area. Private and quiet most of the time. Away from the busy town beaches.

Great little hidden beach. You have to walk through a bit of jungle to get there, but you get to walk past a sweet old cemetary (de los muertos). Once you get there, you can climb big rocks and see blue footed boobies. A nice get-away from the get-away.

"Deadmen's Beach," named for legendary pirate raids on the nearby village, is one of the most-frequented beaches in Puerto Vallarta. A 20-minute walk on the "Malecon" from Puerta al Mar

Catch the water taxi at Los Muertos Pier to Yelapa, Las Animas, Quimixto. Great fun to eat on the beach in Yelapa and hike or ride a horse or mule to the waterfall.

Speacilly my favorite place, just 5 walking from the house, ideal for swim, sunbath, and stay a few hours relax.

Located in the center of town, this is an active beach where you will see fisherman and children of all sorts. It's not the best for swimming but there are plenty of restaurants on the beach to take it all in!

Awesome little beach off the main one in Sayulita. A great spot if you want to get away from the crowd, avoid the vendors, and the many stray dogs. Just walk towards the southern end of the beach and follow the path that goes along the coast, through villa amor hotel, go through cemetery (don't worry it's a nice and not scary one) and find this great beach with tons of shade.
