This very interesting museum has a large collection of the works of Oswaldo Guayasamin, the famous indigenous painter who died in 1999. Since Guayasamin also liked collecting art, the exhibit includes his collection of over 4500 pieces of pre-Columbian ceramic from all over Ecuador.

In the former home of world-famous painter Oswaldo Guayasamín (1919–99), this wonderful museum houses the most complete collection of his work. Guayasamín was also an avid collector, and the museum displays his outstanding collection of more than 4500 pre-Colombian ceramic, bone and metal pieces from throughout Ecuador. The pieces are arranged by theme – bowls, fertility figurines, burial masks etc – rather than by era or cultural group, and the result is one of the most beautifully displayed archaeological collections in the country. A few minutes distance from your condo.

Guayasamín is one of Ecuador's most renown artists and truly one of my global favorites. The warm and inviting museum is a must-see for any visit to Quito. The museum, perched in one of Quito's steep hillside neighborhoods, overlooks the downtown and is graced with beautiful sculpture gardens. The museum itself is spacious and well laid out, really maximizing the unique style of Guayasamín's work. His style is so haunting, yet immensely beautiful and almost fun to look it. He largely depicts the suffering of indigenous people, but in a unique, abstract way. I highly recommend a visit here.
