Just went in because we found it cozy and we're tired. The coffee and cakes were so good but when the bill arrived we were surprised. That was expensive! feAs in 5 star hotel expensive. We later found out the history of this cafe and it was not surprising anymore. It was not surprising anymore. We've had more expensive coffee than that like in Caffè Florian in Venice and in Viena and Paris. Just for the experience, it's worth it plus the sweets and coffee are really good.

With its brilliant reputation Antico Caffè Greco is said to make the best coffee in Italy, and that is one huge statement.
Situated along the super posh Via dei Condotti at the foot of the Spanish steps, this 3 century old place is steeped in history. Where many famous artists and writers went (including Byron and Keats) it's sure to have you dreaming of its olden days.
There's something very refined about having coffee at such a historical caffè and the ambience is very olde worlde and fascinating.
A must-do for anyone who enjoys coffee and wants to learn more about Italian coffee.

Yes, it's hideously touristy but both the place and the location are so steeped in history that it's a must-visit at least once. Stendhal, Goethe, Byron, Franz Liszt, Keats, Henrik Ibsen, Hans Christian Andersen and Felix Mendelssohn are amongst the historical figures who've previously taken tea and cake here. It's not the oldest place of its kind in Italy, that title is held by Cafe Florian in Venice - but only just.
