thoroughfare since Roman times and is also well-known as being the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mozart was born in the number nine building on the road in 1756 and lived there until he was 17 years old. If you love Mozart you can see where his life and musical career started on Getreidegasse. Due to the high-end nature of the stores on Getreidegasse street, most of the purchases are made with the arrival of well-to-do guests during the Salzburg festival. Whether you are looking to purchase or just plain looking, the shops of Getreidegasse are sure to have something that catches your eye.

It's a very good for shooping and to grab some food. It's a bit romantic and I really like the feeling you have while walking.

Very nice shopping street in this cute romantic atmosphere Salzburg has. In the center of the city. A lot of sights are in the surrounding (Salzburger Dom, Pferdeschwaemme, The Fortress,...). Also good Cafes like Schatz, Fürst, Demel,... Very VERY busy at christmas time.

very old street, where the shopping area of the old town finds its center. It is small lovely. in summer very packed. behold of pickpockets, suverniers might be more expensive in this area, also food is more expensive!
You should definately walk up to cafe tomaselli or cafe fürst, this is where

Getreidegasse is one of the main shopping streets in Salzburg. It's a nice little narrow cobbled stone street filled with shops, cafes, and restaurants.

This is the most popular shopping district found in the old city. Its charm is not only due to the high, narrow houses tightly nestled together, the enticing shops and the wrought iron guild signs, but also to the romantic passageways and courtyards.

This narrow shopping street makes a great sunshade, while you can choose from any number of frozen treats to further cool you down between purchases.

It's a really beautiful pedestrian shopping street in the old town of Salzburg. You should definitely at least go for a walk there!

Full of hustling, bustling tourists, this is probably one of the most expensive streets in all of Europe. Tonnes of designer boutiques, high end stores. Thankfully it's not too long a road, so when you're hauling 10+ bags filled with clothes and knickknacks that you'll stuff into that extra, empty checked bag you paid an arm and a leg to bring with, you can simply hail a cab to whisk you back to where you're staying and then proceed to enjoy a beer.

the main touristic place in Salzburg. Today a pedestrian shopping street - in roman times it was a major road. Crowded by 1000 of tourists, but really worth seeing.
