Paradise Point is a little island resort in the middle of San Diego’s Mission Bay. There are 462 rooms decorated with the South Pacific in mind, as well as five pools, two restaurants, a coffee bar, ... Read more
and a bar adjacent to the main pool. There’s also a fitness center, a spa, boat rentals, bike rentals, basketball courts, tennis courts, and a golf putting course. The property is 44 acres. The observation tower is the center-piece of the resort and from it you can see the whole island. It’s ideal for families and for couples who are looking to have a getaway but still be within very near reach of all the things a big city can offer.

This was a Plan B venue for a bonfire since the weather wasn't too great for the beach. Parking wasn't a problem and the space reserved was accommodating to everyone.

I think one of the best hotels in San Diego. Just the grounds makes it unbelievable. I watched him build it in the early 60s

To my surprise, they have done A LOT OF RENOS that makes me happy.

New dark wood laminate floors, with bedroom set to match. (No more wicker chair x rickety old drawers painted over x bed linens from grandmas house, old gross wood floor).
38"(?) LCD flatscreen tv, with plugs for your dvd player (we bring our own).
New bathroom, seperated closet area with more room, less clutter. New dual sink vanity counters, with higher end shampoo/condition/body wash.
No more musky mystery scent.
More staff.
Fire pits are not full of garbage, and operational.
Pools have towels.
Cool Australian guy still rents out water toys at the dock. Super cool.

What hasn't change though, which still makes me irked is :
pay for parking, of the stall already designated you.
$10 for a slushie at the store
$ for internet
$ for minigolf (bring ur own ball and putter)
The sand is still gross, I wouldn't tread it in barefoot, you might pick up a twig or some garbage.

Not sure about the other rooms but both the rooms we looked at on either ends of the resort were renovated. I stayed here in Mid March of 2014. Hope it only gets better.

I recently stayed in Bungalow 515 for my 2 nights at the Paradise Point Resort. My door opened up to a pleasant lagoon, with Paradise Cove being just across the access road behind me. The room was roomy and attractive, the bed was comfortable, Wi-Fi was strong and with no password step, plus the soft towels went well with the hot showers

My only quibbles were that the bathroom was a little small and dated, and I felt a bit isolated in my compound in what felt like an off-season experience. Having Gayle here would have brightened this place up, and I did invite her. However, Walnut Creek's "Personal Ray of Sunshine" had several things at work that demanded her attention.

My meetings were at the Paradise Point Conference Center which was a short and pleasant walk from my Room. The facilities were well maintained and comfortable, and the food that was served at various times was really good and a full step above what I usually expect within the "rubber chicken" circuit. That made for good networking opportunities and some actual learnings that I put to work as soon as I got back to the Office.

First class, five-star, whatever you want to call it, they're doing something right! Immaculate grounds, gorgeous pool, access to the bay and very nice conference rooms! I enjoyed events held here vas the rooms are lovely!

When I was a kid this place was called the Princess Resort and they used to have sea lions that would hang out around the observation tower. They were loud as hell, which I’m assuming, is why they are not longer here. Paradise Point is a super cool spot despite their lack of sea lions though. Ducks have taken the sea lions’ place and the resort has been smartly updated. All the rooms here are little bungalows that open up to either a the bay or a little garden and it’s a great place for kids because they can play on the little beach the nestles up to the bay. Plus there’s tons of opportunity for a good old game of hide and go seek.

This is our first trip to Paradise Point, but it will not be our last. It is a fantastic family location for a vacation. There are great beachside bungalows with tennis, ping pong, bocce, mini-golf, basketball, and all sorts of on water sports. Did I mention the 7 pools and hottubs too?

Discovered it 2 years ago & headed back next week! We've vacationed in San Diego since the early '80s. Stayed at The Bahia, The Catamaran, rentals at Sunset Cliffs etc., This is BY FAR our favorite spot. I highly recommend it!

This is a great place to wander around. The grounds are gorgeous. We ate at both restaurants and the food was delicious. The rooms are a bit dated..... but still very nice. The boutique store has a lot of great items.

Being on a very strict budget I am at a point where I cannot afford any long vacations or vacations that include flying cost. This place makes you feel like a tropical resort that you flew to and is far away from home even though it is only about 1 1/2 hours from Orange County. It is lush with multiple, diversified pools including a pool that has sand and is fashioned as if you are laying at a beach including the salt water. There are plenty of exotic flowers, lakes and birds to smell and view. The rooms have the wonderful feel similar to little bungalows. You have various restaurant choices from casual by the pool to elegant and little shops to shop in as well. You never have to leave the little Island so can enjoy a restful stay the entire time, but if you want some additional entertainment Sea World is but a hop, skip and jump away to go to for the day.

Paradise Point is like Little Hawaii in San Diego, if there were such a thing. Once you turn down Vacation Road, you will feel like all your stress and worries are gone, and you are immediately in relaxation mode. The staff there is wonderful; each person you pass will wave at you! This is the perfect place for a staycation or a vacation, a wedding, or just to come and grab a bite to eat at Barefoot Bar and Grill. As far as hotel rooms go, I highly recommend splurging for a Bayside Bungalow Suite.

Mission Bay really doesn't have that many nice hotels in the area. But SD Paradise Point is one of the nicer ones.

Although it's got "resort" in it's name ... I would say that I didn't really feel the resort part of the place. It was more like another hotel with a pool to me.

It's located near all the cool Mission Bay stuff so it's definitely convenient ... but if I were to do it again, I'd probably just pick a place near Pacific Beach instead.

I was actually kind of surprised that this place was supposed to be a paradise resort (har har) in San Diego with a four-dollar price tag and just as many stars. This is a nice village-like establishment and they have drink specials in their main restaurant but overall the whole setup is a little odd.

The rooms smelled moldy, there were a few spiders here and there. The ponds behind the rooms in each cluster was ... kind of run down and not really that cool. The place was kind of noisy since the doors and windows don't seal perfectly 100%. It almost seemed kind of ghetto being in it.

The furniture is definitely rundown and the whole place was just a bit moldy more so than I expected. The beds smelled moldy as well so that was unpleasant.

I especially disliked how inconvenient it was and how we had to park in a certain area that was assigned to us and there was usually extensive amounts of walking required just to check in / check out and go from one place to another. The pools aren't heated and the main pool is way too big / crowded as well. They have a see-r tower where you can see great distances but not at the top since its all fenced off ... maybe in the stairwell area.

For the price paid, it was just okay. I wouldn't recommend a stay here.

I'm local so it was a nice staycation location. Dog friendly.
