The pop tart donut and French toast donut were worth the lengthy lines on a Sunday morning. If it weren’t on the other side of the country, I’d go every day!

I can be a little obsessed with donuts. Every time I travel, I ALWAYS Yelp a local donut shop to try. When Donut Bar popped up on my Yelp I knew I had to check it out. We got to the donut shop around 8:30am and there was a long line already. We almost decided to abort the mission and go to Starbucks across the street, but luckily the line moved pretty fast.

The interior of the shop is super cute. It's a cozy double decker with a beautiful donut display case, a mini draft beer bar to the right, some window seating, and additional seating upstairs. The beer bar had what looked to be about 10 different beers on draft and the selection looked good. Beer and donuts is a winning combo!

We tried a couple donuts between 5 people - French Toast (made to order), Lemon Pistachio, Mexican Hot Chocolate, & the Homer. All were HUGE. Much bigger than one person could finish on their own, but we wanted to try a variety. The texture wasn't the best I've had, but it had enough fluff and were moist. They are a little dense for my preference, and ridiculously sweet. It was insane how sweet they were, but some HOT BLACK COFFEE washed it down nice.

The best was the FRENCH TOAST! OMGGGG. It's made to order so it's warm, buttery, and fluffy when served. They buttery egg layer on the donut was savory, and they give you a side of whipped butter, maple syrup, and berry preserved so you can customize how sweet you want it. SO UNIQUE AND SO GOOD. If you like french toast, this french toast donut will blow your damn mind.

Yes the donuts are huge and the flavors are insane, but they also carry what's possibly the best cold brew coffee I've ever tried- and it's nitro on tap!

PB and J donut is the bomb diggity and they're opening up beer taps this Friday (6/10/16). I could spend every morning here.

If you love donuts, visit this place! Lovely variety of all kinds- from plain glazed, cake sprinkles to gourmet s'mores, bacon maple, big poppa tart and beyond. All are delicious. Cold brew coffee on nitro is also on tap!

Recommendation- if you're going on a weekend pre-order online the night before to avoid waiting in a line that wraps around the block (unless you're in to that kind of thing.)

Amazing unique donuts! Prepare to wait about an hour to get your hands on these treats! They are a bit pricey ($2-$5 ish), but the size and taste makes up for it. They have classic to unique flavors, that are worth trying. Chef Santiago himself will come out occasionally, and interact with the customers who are patiently waiting in line, and serve cute complimentary donuts to kids. Make sure you get here early, cause once they are sold out, they are done for the day.

Tip:
If you don't have time to wait, call in your order for pick up and beat the line. :)

I had the s'mores big poppa tart. A+ for creativity but I mean the donut itself tastes like a donut... Nothing too special. It was nice having the chocolate center but it would have been better if it was hot. They don't keep their donuts under heat lamps or anything so early morning when the door is open and it's cold outside their donuts are cold too. For a cold donut it was great but just wish it was warmed.

I have a love hate relationship with this place. I LOVE the donuts- they are delicious and they have some really creative flavors, but I hate how many I eat in one sitting! Haha so good but so bad. If you have willpower, GO!

This is one of the best donuts I have ever tasted. The flavors are very unique and you can tell that they are freshly baked everyday, as you can even see in the photo I took. You should have the patience too, when you come over as the line gets crazy even early in the morning. They also specialize and decorate the donuts based on an occassion thus, if you want to make someone feel good, like on a boss's day, come by here and for sure you'll find a decorated donut for this special day. I must admit that their donuts are kind of pricey compared to the rest, but the best way to try everything is to get the $3 ones, and share with someone else. Calories? Yes, no fat free or sugar free ones, but i am telling you, calories from this place are worth it!

I've heard about the hype surrounding this place and its mouth watering menu of donuts (they rotate their selection throughout the week). So far I've tried the following: maple bacon, triple chocolate threat, pb & j, salted caramel, chocolate espresso, snickers, red velvet, creme brulee, nutella, birthday cake, dulce de leche, and butter beer. Of course, not all at once! I have yet to come across a donut from here that I don't like. And what are donuts without coffee?! They have Stumptown Cold Brew here on tap and in bottles.

Donuts the size of your head...enough said! Fresh ingredients, creative flavors, soft dough-y deliciousness. Plus, they have the best cold press coffee (bottled or on tap, which ever you prefer). My favorites are the creme brulee and the strawberry shortcake. They always have a line out the door, and they sell out. My advice, get there early and eat your heart out!

Fantastic, fluffy donuts. We had the Homer donut straight out of the Simpsons. I'll be coming back.

Huge, fluffy, unique donuts in downtown San Diego. Check out their daily specials on Facebook. They have flavors/toppings like green tea, fruit loops, chocolate with almond slices, Homer from The Simpsons, Mexican Chocolate, etc. Seating upstairs. 30 minute metered parking in front. They have herbal tea and coffee too.
