Phil's BBQ is like going to Disneyland at first. Wait in a queue where you get signs of how long it will take to go inside. Once in though, you get great service (order first/then find a table). Food comes out re. Got the half baby back ribs order. Amazing stuff and at a great value for like $14 and comes with two sides. They also have a bar as well.

Some of the better BBQ you can get in San Diego (tip call ahead and order to go and then eat there - walk up line is hella long!)

The first thing you'll notice is that awful line that surrounds the entire premise no matter what day and time. Why? It's because it's one of the top serving BBQ joints known on earth :)

The ordering process is smooth. You order and pay first and find a seat. Try their baby back ribs.

Supposedly the best Barbecue in San Diego. I prefer the beef ribs. Very efficient ordering system. Don't let the long lines scare you away.

Good BBQ, but a bit over-hyped in my opinion. Full disclosure: I ate here just a few weeks after moving to San Diego from Kansas City. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was fine, but KC BBQ it was not. Warning: It's always packed. I was going to give it a 3.5, but I deducted 0.5 for the long wait.

Really great BBQ. The pulled pork with their own BBQ is especially amazing. The boneless ribs are are a real treat.

Okay so yes, the line is a big problem here so either call in ahead and take it, or plan to wait. Either way you will not be dissapointed. Their pulled pork is some of the best I have ever had. Great service, excellent BBQ sauce and great food portions. A true must have!

Phil's BBQ represents San Diego. And if you come visit San Diego you have to try Phil's BBQ.

The line is long like going to wait in line at the DMV. According to others they don't take reservation. The only way to try this incredible delicious BBQ place is to wait in line. Or if you don't want to wait, then you go eat at the bar which has the rule: First come first serve. Usually that doesn't take too long. From my experience it took us 5 min to get a seat.

Judging from the service Phil's BBQ aims for the fast food chain kind of vibe. Forks and knifes are tossed on the plates. And the plates will be tossed in front of you.
It's loud, it's super busy and it is not a fine dining restaurant.
But without doubt a very good BBQ place. I got to try both beef and pork ribs and I must say I preferred the pork. It was softer and juicier.

----------------------

I can't give it 5 stars like EVERYBODY ELSE.
Despite the great flavored meat, I find it a little too burned, with all the crusty BLACK part covering the meat.
By the way. Did you know burned crusty parts is extremely unhealthy and causes cancer? But it seems like people don't care about unhealthy nor cancer.

Best BBQ ever, I wish I have a bigger stomach for more ribs. The beef rib is a must try. Waiting time is always 20 mins more. Or you could choose another location.

Phil's BBQ is perhaps the most popular BBQ restaurant in Cali. Always a line !!!!!!!!

I when here twice, once as takeout and another time as dine in. Takeout is almost no wait just make sure you call ahead. Dine in the line can be from 20 to almost 2 hours wait.

They selling that they specialty pork, such as baby back ribs. But reality the best item here is their Beef Ribs ! Those ribs are huge and great value and delicious, the baby back ribs is good but not that special. The sides were pretty good, especially the fries is perfectly done.

Price is moderate and sine you don't need to paid tips since is paid at front make this one of very good for the quality of food.

Top San Diego BBQ spot. There's a few other locations across San Diego, particularly at the airport and north county. I love their sauce. Mac salad and potato salad plus fruits with seasoning are so yum... they have homemade whoopie pies too. Expect a line, always! Over 30-60+ minutes

Been wanting to try this place put for a while and it was worth the wait! Quarter rib plate was more than enough to fill me up. And their sauce is amazing.

I love BBQ but there are many places that does BBQ and only a few does it well. Although I'm not a huge fan of pork ribs, it is really good here. However, I come here just to order the beef ribs. It's almost dinosaur size and you get a choice of 2 or 3 of these suckers. Yes, suckers, you'll be sucking the bone marrow out of these things and want to bury them in the hole you dig out in the backyard...
Sorry, that was a flash back of a previous life as a puppy. ha ha
Seriously, a place that does a beef rib that is just falling right off the bone is really hard to come by. I try to stop by this place each time I come down to this county no matter what part of the city I roam. Sides, that's going to be a whole new review just for that. You cannot go wrong with anything you pick. Just tell me what you ordered when you arrive here so I can drool all over my keyboard or phone. Wherever I am reading your notification. I can almost taste the smoke-i-ness right now!

Great place for bbq... Nothing special! Decent sized portions, fairly priced. The line for this place can get ridiculous around lunch time.

Came here when my family was visiting SD for Christmas. Ordered to go, but even that line was pretty darn long! Everyone really enjoyed the ribs and the sides. Parking isn't too bad, even during the peak hours.

The fat kid inside of me loves Phil's BBQ. Their baby back ribs are so tender and juicy. I get sauce all over my face and hands all the time. Luckily for me, they installed a sink outside the bathrooms so you can quickly wash your hands and continue binge eating delicious bbq.
