college in 1991 as a hobby at U.C. Riverside. After graduating he moved to Sonoma County and studied viticulture at Santa Rosa Community College. In 1998, living in the wine country, his interest in grape growing inspired a new hobby, making wine with friends and other wine enthusiasts. With much encouragement from friends, Adam continued to make wine after moving back to Carlsbad in 2001 by trucking grapes down from Northern California's premier wine regions. In 2006, Adam's backyard wine making transitioned into a professional operation, and Carruth Cellars was born. Carruth Cellars initially operated out of Fifty Barrels, a collaborative winery in Oceanside, CA. Adam continued to foster the relationships he made in Northern California's wine country, which has gained him access to premier grapes year after year. Under the Carruth Cellars label, Adam's award-winning wines have been featured in more than 60 locations, including Wine Steals, 3rd Corner, Vigilucci's, and Maestro's. Adam has been working within the wine industry for 12 years. 2010 marks his 14th crush and 4th year operating a professional winery. His enthusiasm and love of wine making is infectious! Carruth Cellars wine is the artistic expression of a wine maker that brings passion and dedication to his endeavor. Opening his own winery and tasting room in the heart of Solana Beach is the latest and greatest step in Adam's wine making journey. The Winery on Cedros endeavor has required passion, dedication, endless patience and incredible tenacity to become a reality. Adam would like to offer his profound gratitude to all those who have offered their support and efforts along the way, helping to make his dream a reality in the heart of Cedros Design District.

Love wine? Stop by Carruth Cellars in Solana Beach to sample some of their delicious wines. The winery has a charming, cozy vibe with lots of wine barrels lining the walls. There's a nice upstairs seating area for you to sit back and enjoy your wine too.

They even host private events so check them out if you're planning a birthday or other celebration.

There's no parking at the winery but it's usually pretty easy to find a spot along Cedros right outside the winery.

Carruth Cellars on Cedros is tucked away off the main street and offers a variety of delights. Sit at the bar in the tasting room and try one of of their award winning wines. Even better, host a private event here. The event venue is wonderfully authentic and reminds me of wineries in Bordeaux France with an urban twist.

Great little place tucked away from the main road. Only have 4 stars bc I have only tried one of their red wines. I'm sure everything else is just as tasty.

Carruth Cellars is a very cozy and welcoming winery located in Solana Beach, a coastal city in San Diego county. I had the pleasure of visiting this locations as a part of a Gogobot gingerbread house building event, and I must say it was great. Seeing the wine barrels stacked to the ceiling, and getting the opportunity to drink the wine was superb. I personally had the red table blend wine, definitely a good pick. Not too strong, or robust, just right to simply drink and enjoy. Would definitely like to come back and try and few other wines before I start stocking up my wine collection with their wines. I will warn that the location is a bit hidden. You actually have to go up a driveway before you actually find it, but one you do, prepare to drink and have a fun time!!! The staff definitely seemed knowledgeable when it came to their wine, and that's always a huge plus! So go for the wine, and stay for the beach... As its only a couple minutes away and alcohol is not permitted in the beach, but at Carruth Cellars it is!!

Carruth is a beautiful hidden spot located in Solana beach. I went here for the first time with gogobot for the adult gingerbread house contest and took the most creative award home. The wine was alright, not my cup of tea but it was drinkable. The atmosphere and beauty of the decor really set the ambiance for the night. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back and having a private little party in the back room.

Super cool little wine tasting area. Loved walking around checking out all of the barrels. All the people working there were super cool and easy to talk to. The wine was pretty good. Make note that it is kind of hard to find and hidden behind the Coles in the Cedros Village.

This place is hard to find, on a narrow street and a complete safety hazard. Every where you go you trip on something and it is a very small room. Other than that, they have a cool set up of barrels on the walls and friendly staff. They just need a better location.

Awesome winery and tasting room in Solana Beach in the fun Cedros village. I loved their pinot grigio and the private barrel room. Parking is a little wonky, but the service and staff were impeccable!

A hidden gem on Cedros Ave. in the design district of Solana Beach. Not a wine bar, it's a winery. There is an area to taste and buy wine and its a lot of fun to hang out and enjoy a bottle too. Since it is a working winery there always seems to be something going on. For $10 you can enjoy an amazing tasting!! Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Cabernet, Barbera, Merlot, Malbec, Bordeaux style blend, Petite Sirah and a few Ports. Great Cali wine! A must try!

I'm not a wine drinker, but I still ended up here. I did taste test a few of their wines and I was very impressed. They pick out their grapes from Northern Cali and get them delivered to this little place where they make their wine right in front of you. The staff is very friendly and super knowledgeable. If you go in, say hi to Adam and Heather from Audra!
