Description
The original House of Blues opened its doors in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1992. Since then, venues have opened up all across the United States, with a mission of bringing Blues, R&B, Gospel, Jazz ... Read more
and Rock-and-Roll to appreciative Americans from all walks of life. San Diego's House of Blues is no different in this mission, with a constant line-up of live music sure to please any Blues fan. This venue, like its predecessors, holds all the magic of the South within its walls, with plenty of folk art and Southern cuisine right along side the music.

In gaslamp just on the outskirts, kind of. Big restaurant with free live music plus large venue for concerts of course. Food is ok.

Venue is great for live music, but don't eat here. Drinks are fine, not great. Food is awful. Poorly cooked, slapped together, and cleanliness is highly suspect. (This does not apply to the Gospel Breakfast, just the regular menu.) If you're in the area, almost any other nearby restaurant will be a better choice, though eat BEFORE the show: most restaurants (including the one here) close around 9 except on weekends.

Not what it used to be. They sign on cheap ass little mini concerts with fake ass singers tryn to get big. They suck! Keep it real! Your performers suck and food sucks. Hire real cooks! Your Prices are way too expensive for low quality food

I was pleasantly surprised that my meal was so amazing at a place with such a commercial name. First off, the happy hour is awesome. I got a pint of the house pale ale for $3! and it was delicious! I ordered a regular ol plain cheeseburger and it was legitimately delicious - juicy 1/3 lb beef with cheddar cheese on a moist brioche bun. Even the fries are good, and the fact that they are generous with their vats of ranch dressing to douse everything in just makes it even better. Only thing I didn't like was the house made pickles. Kinda gross.

Great happy hour! Good prices on drinks and hearty American diner food. Try the craft burgers like Juicy Lucy. Divine.

This chain live music venue can be found across the country, but it bring live music to downtown San Diego, and that is definitely something to be happy for. It's relatively small and the concert area is downstairs from the restaurant. There is a bar downstairs, but if you are hungry eat before you get there or at least in the restaurant portion upstairs. The food in the concert area is not the best.

Excellent food at reasonable prices overall. If you've been to a HOB before, it is similar. Insider Tip: try the Gospel Brunch! ;) If you head here for a show, this is a great music venue. Acoustics are good, although for popular shows, the room can feel slightly claustrophobic.

Cool venue to see live music - my only complaint is that you have to stand most of the time unless you upgrade into VIP tix with seats, so if you go, wear comfortable shoes because you will be standing in them all night! Drinks are on the expensive side too, but still a great venue to see someone in an intimate place.

Typical House of Blues.....food is good. Found this one to be very dark inside.....almost too dark to see what I was eating. Location good.....almost the heart of downtown.

There are two rooms that holds shows. The one I went into was the small one and I must say that it gets very hot. This place also serves pricey food and drinks.

One of my favorite House of Blues locations in the country. Seen some great shows here and it's in a location that allows you to also enjoy the city of San Diego. The food at the restaurant is also good if you want to eat before the show.
