thought-provoking examples of artifacts culled from the pre-Columbian history of the western Americas. The collections and permanent exhibits draw from Native American cultures, Mesoamerican civilizations, such as the Mayans, and Andean civilizations. In addition to the 70,000 pieces on display, kids can enjoy the museum's hands-on discovery center. The iconic California Building and its tower is sure to fascinate film buffs that may recognize it from the legendary film "Citizen Kane".

Very interesting museum with a variety of exhibits. Not super large but they have rotating special exhibits and a surcharge visiting exhibit too. You can also now go up to the tower.

A separate ticket from the museum of man, an Interesting exhibit with history and real life stories. Also questions posed, "what would you do?"

Not the biggest of museums, but it's good. They do a fantastic job of laying out human and primate evolution on the top floor and the Central American Stela on the bottom floor make for interesting viewing.

Climb the California Tower! Beautiful views of San Diego, plus a small tour group (limited to 12) and a knowledgeable guide to give you some insight to what San Diego was like 100 years ago. I am a native San Diegan, and it was wonderful to do something new.

I went here to see the Beerology exhibit. Sadly, the exhibit was far smaller than I imagined, but I did see an ancient growler shaped like a frog.

Native Americans, mummies, skeletons, Mayan artifacts, and ancient Egyptians are just some of the many exhibits here. I personally enjoyed it for its variety - just when you're starting to get bored of one theme, you transition to another - but it is still a museum...which means for kids, the interest will be short-lived, and adults only need to go once.

There is a lot to see on the history of man here. We can help with think how we evolved to be the way we are from such hairy beasts. When I was little, I was was scared of walking through this museum. There's something very solemn about this place.

A tired museum that hasn't figured out how to engage the participant effectively.
