It's super close to shopping centers and other public transportation and bars but parking garage per night is $32 and the hotels parking is $50 so if you have a car be careful if your on a budget. Otherwise it's very small space even for a queen bed.

For the price and location, I can't complain much about the hotel. Valet was a little confusing since it was all taken up by ubers/taxis/etc?

Room was pretty darn small, didn't realize this was a "hostel" style hotel. But I had the ensuite which was nice enough. Sink was outside the bathroom. Shower had immediate hot water.

My main qualm was the AC and bed. Couldn't really get comfortable, swung between too hot and too cold. And the double bed was just lumpy? My husband and I didn't sleep that well, we both woke up exhausted.

Solid hotel in an excellent location. The mosser is an average hotel in terms of amenities and aesthetic but the central location makes up for it.

European style hotel in amazing location. Beautiful old building with a lot of charm. Rooms are modern but small - some with shared bath others with private. I got a deluxe double for 140 a night for a last min weekend stay. Perfect.

If you want to be in the heart of San Francisco, chances are your hotel will be a little bit noisy and a little bit small. If you want to be in the heart of San Francisco and stay in your hotel room...you might be doing it wrong.
The Mosser is a perfect base to explore San Francisco - it's affordable, comfortable, and best of all, in the middle of everything.
Great hotel.

So central, it's practically got a bulls-eye on its roof. But not much more; the barebones hotel prides itself on its location and its price. You can stay in nearby hotels for double or even triple the price. If you don't mind small rooms -- some with shared bathrooms -- the speedy, free Wi-Fi and cleanliness make it comparable to other more expensive downtown hotels.

If rating this hotel on overall value...it gets 5+ stars. Arguably the best value in downtown SF. Small rooms, thin walls, loud pipes....HOWEVER, it was very functional and only a few blocks from Union Square, roughly 50 steps from a BART station, and provided complimentary coffee and muffins in the lobby every morning. I would stay here again.

A boutique hotel in the middle of the Financial District around the corner from the huge Old Navy. They offer rooms with shared bathrooms or ensuite bath. The accommodations are mostly modern and it's probably one of the best sleeps I've had in a hotel. That said, the rooms are a bit small so be prepared for that.

If I told you there was a European-style hotel with a pro recording studio in the heart of Downtown San Francisco, would you believe me? That’s The Mosser, located on the same block as the city’s biggest mall, across the street from the Powell Cable Car turnaround and two blocks from Union Square. It’s charming inside, vintage but not “old,” and the service is no less wonderful. Most rooms share bathrooms (European!), though there are some rooms with full bathrooms within.

Step outside and you’ll find a number of restaurants within a stroll of the hotel. BART and MUNI are located just around the corner, making it really convenient to reach other areas of SF and the Bay Area without requiring a cab.

I mentioned the recording studio earlier. It’s Studio Paradiso, known among local musicians. If cutting a hot record is part of your stay in SF, consider The Mosser.

Before I moved to San Francisco I stayed at the Mosser twice and it is one of the hotels I recommend most often to visitors. The rooms are EXTREMELY cozy--kind of a bed & breakfast feel. I also like the place because it is close to the BART, Union Square and Market St. So you will not have too much trouble finding plenty of things to do around your hotel.

Charming old Victorian hotel just south of Market St. Room was small, but an amazing living room awaits outside! I think prices have risen as SOMA has gotten more popular.
