It's everything you need. Great take out, good wine selection, just the right fresh local produce and their own ice cream. I could go on and on about the ice cream but go there and find out for yourself.

Bi rite is always a nice place to go to find creamy ice cream! Try their seasonal ice cream, but Kelly's cream brulee is still classic favorite.

Expensive market with prepared foods and locally sourced specialty items. Good wine selection with reasonable prices. Excellent regional produce that is worth the $$$.

Something about the most lucrative retail space in the country, by square foot. Prices are pretty insane, but the food is good and the wares are things you often can't find elsewhere.

A nice local market and amazing ice cream. A little bit expensive but really worth a treat once in a while for yourself. The large selection of healthy juices in line. Not to mention the sandwiches are killer!

My Son and I stopped at Bi-Rite for "Breakfast" on a recent Saturday. We were in the City of an Earthwatch Day and I knew the Kid would need some fuel before we began our project from under the palm trees at Dolores Park. He scored some luscious strawberries, while I settled for a cookie, and the promise of a pound of coffee and a closer look when we were done. This small "Mom and Pop" grocery is packed to the rafters with goodness and it make take several visits to really discover this place properly.

Sometimes I think there's a secret San Francisco list that spells out the correct buzz words towards "progressive" shopping. Terms like "Cruelty Free", "Biodynamic", "Probiotic", and "Tree Nut Hypersensitivity" (among many others) would be explained in great PC detail, along with specific instructions on how to shop responsibility and sustainably. And in a IWW-type Union friendly environment of course.

It seems that Bi-Rite has received the "Memo", and with an added bonus that the folks here are really nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. There's also no Rainbow Grocery holier than thou snarkiness that you might expect. The only issue that I have with this place is that the selection is ultimately limited in spots and its relatively expensive. As such, Bi-Rite works best as a frequent supplement to shopping at the big grocery store, or as a special occasion like a picnic in nearby Dolores Park.

The secret is that if you're longing for Bi-Rite ice cream but don't want to stand in line at Bi-Rite Creamery, you can buy it at Bi-Rite Market and get more for less. The downside? You'll have to eat that entire container of ice cream in Dolores Park (where you're likely heading next, let's face it) before it melts.

Bi-Rite Market is a great place to pick up snacks before going to Dolores Park. It's probably the most expensive option for groceries in the area, however what they sell is the best of the best.

This corner grocery store stocks some incredible foodie finds, from the dozens of varieties of chocolate to Rancho Gordo heirloom beans. Don't come at peak times or you'll be struggling just to walk down the aisle, order at the deli or check out. Head to the far back to get Bi-Rite's famous ice cream sandwiches or pints of ice cream to go (though if that's all you want, you're better off walking around the block to their bakery and ice cream shop called Bi-Rite Creamery).

Organic, spectacular food (prefer this market to Whole Foods.) The pre-made food is in the deli counter is always a treat, although parking is a problem here.

This is a great gourmet grocery market on 18th St. There is also a Bi-Rite ice cream store across the street.

Mmmmm....Bi-Rite Ice cream! They recently opened this location near my apartment and I love it. I walked over one weekend and got a couple scoops (Roasted Banana and Salted Caramel). It was delicious!

Pros:
+ Lines are much shorter than the other location.
+ Conveniently located
+ Delicious ice cream
+ Near Alamo Square. You can easily grab some ice cream and walk over!

Cons:
- No soft serve at this location

This is the place to be if you want to get some good, locally grown, organic food. Oh, and if you just a few pints of that ice cream shop down the street.

I walked in and just wanted to buy a little bit of everything to take home. They have a great selection of fresh, organic produce as well as tasty foods to take home and eat right away but I resisted. We had a dinner that night to be at otherwise, I would be all over that in a heartbeat.

I love their selection of cheeses and it just made me want host a party just so I can bring some of the cheese they carry. Maybe I'll just have a party of 1 and eat it all up.

I think I need to stop by there this weekend for some fresh produce and some cheese. Oh, and a pint or two of ice cream too. Yummmm.

Bi-Rite Market is a very dangerous place for foodies. You can easily go bankrupt shopping here. They offer local and farm-direct produce, organic meat and many artisanal items not easily found anywhere else.

Even if you are not quite a cook, you will find their selection of snacks and baked goods irresistible. Their own brand of ice cream alone is more than enough reason for a visit. If you have never tried their salted caramel ice cream, you don't know what happiness is.

Bi-Rite is a haven and heaven for cheese, cured meats, olives, its own delicatessen with multiple sandwich choices, wines, chocolates, and the list goes on. My friend & I made our own charcuterie platter with choice meats with tapenade and cheeses. Bringing this plus sandwiches, wine, and chocolate to Dolores Park you create your own picnic of epicurean delights from one of SF's best food stores.
