It’s cash only and usually has quite the line but it is by far worth the wait

Good Luck Dim Sum is a small hole in the wall in Inner Richmond with extremely cheap take out dim sum. The quality to price ratio can't be beat! Be sure to order steamed bbq pork buns, which are less than a dollar a piece.

Zagat rated and very cheap, Good Luck Dim Sum is perhaps the best take-out dim sum place in San Francisco. There is a lot to choose from and the quality is pretty good (though not exactly on par with a good Chinese restaurant).

$9 for dim sum for 3 people. No, not $9 per person, $9 TOTAL! Sure, this might not be the norm, but you'll definitely be more than satisfied for less than $5 per person. This is not a place where carts come to your table. It's a get in a really long line and order type of place. The ladies here can get a bit impatient with you once you're ordering, so figure out what you want while you're waiting in line. Otherwise, NO DIM SUM FOR YOU!

We had bbq pork buns, har-gow, shu-mai, lotus seed buns, shark fin dumplings, and 1lb of mushroom chow mein, which we found out could only be ordered by the pound. Not half, not quarter. It was only $1.80 anyways. I also got some Vita mango boxed juice. All this for $9. Mind-boggling.

I know why this place is called Good Luck Dim Sum. Good Luck finding no line to order here. And Good Luck not over ordering because everything is so cheap.

A whole bunch of my friends gathered and we went here one day. Just for kicks..never been except for dim sum to go - which I might add isn't half bad. Anyways - we're eating a whole boat load of food. Nothing overly special but nothing bad. It was just good food. I remember the place more because of the discussion that took place because of the food.

Let me set the background here...my ex is sitting between me and my brother. She then asks my brother...
"Would you like any pork?"
My brother looks at me from the corner of his eye and gets my attention. I know he's full because he's always been a light weight. He then says..."I'm sorry, I don't eat pork." And we all thought that was that.
The ex then asks "Why not?"
My brother looks at me annoyed..."Because pigs are dirty animals!" I get that upset stomach feeling - knowing full well that nothing good will come of this.
"You know, cows are just as dirty as pigs are!"
"No, I didn't know that, but that doesn't change the fact that pigs are dirty animals and I don't want any."
"But cows are dirty too and you ate cow earlier."
"Ok..." He looks at me with a wink and proceeds with "I don't eat pork because I was traumatized when I was a kid..ever since I watched Charlotte's Web..."
"OIC...nevermind." She then excused herself to go to the bathroom.
Immediately after she left, the whole table was like WTF!?!?! MY brother looks at me and asks what her problem was. I asked her why he perpetuated the conversation.....even though I later did admit it was kind of funny.....buhahahaha

In any case the pork was really good. ;D
