Fantastic Mexican food, fresh and delicious, nice atmosphere. It gets very busy, best to make reservations. Also it gets very noisy and is very dim so if you are not in to that you may want to go somewhere else but we loved it.

Great experience - it's like eating at a real taqueria that is not unclean or well taken care of. Didn't like the ceviche as much but the Tinga taco was great!!

Not your authentic taqueria, but still good food right near Union Square if you're looking for something not too formal and expensive but still a cute sit down site. Multiple times that I visited I had a bit of a wait. You can wait next door at Press Club.

I personally love the margaritas, particularly the grapefruit one.

Fairly priced food with a good margarita on the menu. Restaurant is like a couple steps above Chevy's.. good for groups!

Can't speak to the food but I love the spicy Margs. The salt around the rim is perfect.

Mmm I'm pretty into this place, mostly because of the shrimp burrito, their Mexican rice, and OH THE TORTILLA CHIPS. Epic salsa bar. Will be returning for what looks like a sweet happy hour. Big portions, really fair prices for downtown food.

Been here many times. The food portions are huge and very tasty. A bit unhealthy if you eat here too often and clean your plate. The margaritas/mojitos are all tasty. Guacamole is super fresh. Nice dark atmosphere.

NOT A FAN. one star because we came in really late and they were nice enough to let us order before the kitchen closed. but that's about all I can say for this place.

If you're going to let us eat there, stop hovering and staring at us! It's just creepy. The drinks were not good, I definitely don't think my margarita should taste like industrial strength cleaning solution. The scallops were ok, but the shrimp was extremely salty. My best friend said it tasted like the ocean. The steak was not great either. It was chewy and tough, but hey, I guess that's better than eating the ocean. Honestly the best thing I had all night here were the chips & salsa.

With food like this, I seriously don't know how this place got such great ratings?? Again, I admit we got their late, but if they didn't want to serve us, we would have been fine going somewhere else. There's no need to ruin good food!

Just thinking of the food again makes me cringe and feel yucky.

Great service!! Well priced for the high quality of food. Busy, active atmosphere but in an enjoyable 'loud family' way - great place to blow off steam after work.

Great $5 HH margarita and fresh chips and salsa. I didn't have a good dining experience but do recommend to stop by before 6 pm for the great HH offerings. Go to blusteam for dinner.

I get the fish burrito and make it super. I love the food here. My only complaint is that the line gets insanely long during lunch hours, I dont know how anyone could wait in that line. But the food is good so I guess I can understand if you have the time

The margaritas as yummy and even more appreciated because they come in pint glasses. Come here for the chips and tasty salsa trio. It's a great spot to meet up for happy hour and shrug off dinner for another day.

It takes a lot for me to rave about Mexican food, but Tropisueno serves up some really great, authentic cuisine - plus it was really close to my old work, and super convenient for happy hour.

Oh yeah - their happy hour? Really (really) strong margaritas is their signature libation, and they are not for the faint of heart (or the easily inebriated). They also make some killer salsa, the kind where you just use the chips as a vehicle for the dip and secretly want to ingest it by the spoonful. If you're going around 5pm, don't be surprised by a 10 minute wait.

Great Mexican food at reasonable prices. Tropisueño provides great quality at fast food prices.

You order your food at the counter and the food is brought to your table. The atmosphere is like a sit down restaurant.

The food is delicious. I order the Civiche appetizer which was fresh and not too acidic. I also had a steak taco and the meat was quite tender. I also loved the free chips that they give you. They are super light ans crispy. It goes great with the various salsas they have at the bar!

This place definitely exceeded my expectations!

Haven't been to what I refer to as "Tropi" for dinner in awhile, but this is a go to spot for lunch and is well deserved on the rotation for the many options that await SF lunch-goers.

There is something about their chips with creamy salsa that get me everytime in addition to their other options at the salsa bar. The portions and dishes are generous and the food always comes out fast. I love this place!

Fun and funky taqueria with a nice range of options and the requisite salsa bar. We tried the shrimp tacos and chili rellenos both were tasty. They were out of tamales and mole sauce that day. Many of the dishes are pre-made and in a serving area so you watch as they put your plate together. We were there at lunch during the week and the line was huge!! They have a bar and serve margaritas but we were workign so didn't partake.

This place is relatively cheap for a restaurant in SOMA but its not very good Mexican food.

Probably the best Mexican food I have ever had; even counting my travels to Mexico. Coming from NYC, we are in the dire need of quality authentic Mexican food; Tropisueno delivered the perfect authentic experience I have so desperately craved.

It is a decent Mexican restaurant near the downtown shopping area. I went there for Happy Hour and I have to say it is a pretty good deal. Beer and tacos all for $2, and the most expensive items are $5. You can have a pretty good meal for less than $10. Their chips are really good, very thin and crispy and always hot. The best part is the they are free together with the salsa. Other dishes are just OK.
