Iconic must-see. The cheap entrance fee gets you into this place as well as another castle.

A well preserved and restored fortress. Very impressive and a must see when in old San Juan. The history of this compound and the foundation of today's local culture can be explored here as the signs/tour guides explain who was already on the island, who settled from Europe, and who were brought to the "Rich Port" against their will and how all of these influences came to form the Puerto Rico we now have.

From the very young age I was reading adventure books about battles in the sea and pirates. My dream comes true - I see the place.

This was a great fort to explore, with plenty of open space, dark passageways, and even a dungeon area.

Beautiful views with a history lesson reminding us of Spanish explorers who arrived before the pilgrims.

Nice views and certainly reasonable for an entry - you can spend some time prowling around the old fort. Great for a break in shopping and eating.
