Coyote Point is a coastal park by the sea. There are playgrounds, running and biking trails, which kid great for families.

Little museum that is great for the young families. Airplane spotting is good here too. If golf is your thing, check out the local golf course next door.

I love this park. If you have a traveler's heart, you know that the sound of airplanes is wildly entrancing. I loved walking through the trees along the coast, watching the planes descend toward SFO. I recommend getting here early, before the heat kicks in and the kids take over (unless you are a parent of those kids, in which case you've come to the right place -- check out the beach and CuriOdyssey).

$6 for parking here is the killer but otherwise a good experience. Lots of room with a playground.

Within bike riding distance, has a golf course close by, access to the Humane Society, with pet adoption and volunteer positions, I believe, depending on weather conditions, there is wind surfing also. Beach access but the sand/water is bay water quality. I also recall The Castaways being there, with a beautiful view. A fun, local outing.

This is heaven for our kids. A really nice playground with a big slide, a field with lots of grass to run around, space to scoot and cycle and the airplanes that fly into SFO.

An often overlooked location in the busy bay area. Nature trails, museum, boat harbor offer interesting activities. It can get windy and cold here so bring a jacket just in case. I like watching the airplanes approach SFO for landing.

One of the best hidden spots on the peninsula. Great views of the bay, nice walking trails, even a nice beach. Bring a picnic and enjoy the sun! The playground here is epic.

It has areas for picnicking, trails for walking, places for swimming, bicycling, jogging, and a playground. There's a wildlife habitat, beach, marina and beautiful views of of San Francisco. The Science and Nature museum is not to be missed.

Lots do do for kids. There is a big fun playground, a little sandy beach where you even can swim in summer if it is not too windy, you defenitly should do the pretty hike from the beach up to the CuriOdyssey Museum where kids can watch lots of airplanes come into SF. Then the Museum is really great. It has some science stuff to try out for the kids, a cute little zoo and a nice garden.

It's a great park where me and the clan used to roll through all the time. Yes, there's a lot of droppings but it's worth it. When you reserve that small secluded bbq spot and hang out with loved ones.....grilling meat and drinking....juice. Great times! Can't forget about the museum and stick your face next to the beehive to listen to the bees (is that still there)?

Watch out, it gets windy. And parents be wary of your kids if they are rambunctious as I was. I had once slipped by the sand area and skinned my knee and cried and cried and cried till someone came over and loved me. Fortunately it was my pops.

And no, I did not skin my knee last week.
