The Restaurant has International food with Mexican touches, it has a very nice look and feel touch and I really recommend Burger Night on Thursdays, since it has good music and very good ambiance!

The food at this upscale spot is so excellent. We picked one of the comfy booths at the back and it was like hanging out at a friends place. There was a quiet buzz and nice light background music. The Mexican flavors are fused with things like ravioli, thai fish cakes and meatloaf. My boyfriend went for the chipotle meatloaf which I wish I could learn how to make - SO delish. I had the pork cheeks that were marinated in all manner of delicious Mexican spices and chilis. We left happy and full to the brim.

The ambiance was quite nice. We enjoyed the gently lit setting and the combined old world architecture with a modern feel. The guava based cocktail was well constructed and it had both a refreshing and complete palette. The Pear St. Germain cocktail was far too spirit forward and felt very unbalanced. It needed a touch of simple syrup to balance out the bitterness.

The Cesar salad needed to be served on a cold dish to provide a more crisp experience. Add to that far too much dressing and the salad missed the mark.

The main entrée consisted of a gnocchi with lemon and herb and it's sad to say that the flavors fell quite flat. The herbs tasted wilted and the dish overall had too much lemon. The citrus seemed almost artificial.

I'd like to suggest to the staff to slow down. There was a sense they were constantly rushing from one table to another and back to the kitchen which was a distraction from the meal.

You can't go wrong in this restaurant -- many dishes to choose from,
great service and wonderful indoor and outdoor ambience. Located on Solano, sometimes this Restaurant is called Solano 16. Many great galleries and vendors on this street.

I love this restaurant for lunch or dinner. And the added bonus is fabulous furniture and design ideas inside, too!

One of our favorite restaurants in San Miguel is called simply 'The Restaurant'. Tied in closely with the local scene, every Thursday the locals show up for 'burger night' which has a special menu of some of the most amazing burgers you'll taste from Lamb, to Fish, to Vegetarian. If you want to get into the local scene this is a good way to start. Donnie's menu during the week is amazing.

Our absolutely favourite restaurant for big deal dinners and long relaxed lunches. The open courtyard is elegant with a flower filled fountain in the middle. The best way to enjoy this talented chef's cooking is at lunch by ordering a selection of interesting dishes to share. Burger night on Thursday is a bit of a scene, where you can watch the well dressed and well heeled chow down on an "In and Out burger" (My fav is the Mafioso) Service can be indifferent which is the only reason I cannot give it 5 stars.

American hipster chef Donnie Masterson apprenticed under chef David Bouley at New York’s Montrachet and later with the great Patrick Clark. He was Chef de Cuisine at Bice in Beverly Hills, The Hay Adams Hotel in D.C., and New York’s Tavern on the Green before he opened Azie, a highly publicized West coast concept restaurant and later worked for Joachim Splichal’s Patina Group as Executive Chef, running the Hollywood Bowl. The Restaurant is in a beautiful open courtyard with a trickling fountain and Moorish columns – very romantic. The menu is international and features seasonal organic produce. Chef Masterson is truly talented and his menu reflects that. Thursday night is pizza night (no regular menu). His pizzas are great, and also inexpensive – so pizza night is a fun way to get to experience the ambiance of The Restaurant if you want to avoid the pricier menu they offer on other nights. For reservations, call 154-7877. Website: www.therestaurantsanmiguel.com.
